The SanDisk Extreme Go 64GB displayed an excellent balance of cost and efficiency and proved to be one of the quickest drives during our testing. It completes numerous tasks rapidly, including moving a single large file or a big folder containing a large number of small files. For example, a 5 GB folder filled with thousands of modest files wrote to the drive in just 7 minutes, proving to double the other models' typical speed. Large media files moved even faster, taking only 31 seconds to write a 5GB HD movie. Topping off this stellar performance is the price tag — the Extreme Go 64GB sells for well under the price of many premium drives on the market. The plastic construction feels relatively sturdy, and a smooth sliding mechanism retracts the connector when it's not in use. It's not super tiny, but the body is still thin enough that it won't be in the way of any other ports while in use &mdash; we had no problem plugging in a large cable for headphones in the next port over beside the drive.

When tested with the same D810, the Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary shows similar sharpness (3,073 lines) and edge softness at 150mm, but at 200mm is a stronger performer than the Nikkor. You will likely be happy with this lens as long as you have a more modern and powerful camera body to attach it to. Our D40X is NOT compatible with this lens in spite of Nikon saying it is. Battery life is extremely short due to the power demands of this huge lens and our camera now has mechanical/electrical failure to the shutter system (from which several attempts to repair have resulted in initial success but ultimately in failure.)  I was using my 300mm f/4D AF-S plus Nikon 1.4TCII, which got me to 420mm at f/5.6. This combo works really well due to sharpness, light weight, smaller size and good reach

4TC II (which holds up really well though it was first announced in 2001!), but plan on buying the 1.4TC III for improved focus, optics and VR with this lens. The TC brings you to 700mm at f/8. I was getting sharp results on subjects that were moving slower, but for flying birds it didn't quite work out

 That being said, I'm shooting with the D750 which is full frame, so I've always wanted just a little more reach than that and something I didn't need a TC for.  I was looking at the new Tamron 150-600mm G2 and this Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6VR. I decided to go down to Sammy's Camera to give them both a try to see which one I'd like better

This Nikon 200-500mm lens fits a special niche to complement my assortment of other shorter telephotos. For the price, the lens sharpness is on par with much more expensive prime telephotos. The constant f/5.6 aperture is great when zooming out to 500mm without losing another stop of light and slower shutter speeds, especially for outdoor sports or birding

 But if starting at 200mm is a needed minimum, then this 200-500mm is the best price performance without adding another digit to the price tag.

Best price performance for a long Nikon telephoto

As a person that enjoys photographing birds I have been waiting for this lens for many years. I have been using the Nikon 300 f4 for years with a 1.4 to shoot birds but it was never flexible enough for me. This lens focuses very quickly and I've found it to have great picture quality

 I am just thrilled at the potential of this on my D7100. The only issue, that was not a surprise is it is heavy. I actually pulled a muscle in my neck while out shooting with this monster. Bring a tripod or monopod while using it
