It’s pretty cool when a company uses their athletes and allows them some free reign in the ski design aspect. The Salomon QST Blank is the result, and we’re pretty stoked to see them added to the already popular QST line. At 112 mm underfoot, this one falls in between the QST 106 and 118 models, with some familiar technologies carried forward, some new ones to add to the mix. Starting with a full poplar wood core, the skis are energetic and snappy to start. Add to that in the tips and tails, Salomon’s C/FX carbon and flax material makes the skis even more responsive and strong, without adding weight. They’ve been using this material in a lot of their skis, and it definitely lends to a unique and supple feeling that a lot of skiers really like, and we think it works very well in this application. Cork Damplifier is another technology that is being carried into the QST Blank, and this cork material in the tips and tails keeps the skis incredibly smooth and damp, playing off of the energy of the carbon and flax very nicely. It’s always interesting to see how Salomon uses a variety of different ingredients to make a ski perform a certain way. Not stopping there, Salomon uses their Double Sidewall, which is an injected ABS material into the underfoot portion of the ski. This gives this the 112 some much-needed torsional stiffness underfoot for carving power and on-trail versatility.

 But yeah, it would be impossible for me personally to ignore the, the freestyle capabilities of this ski or rather it's, it's a, it's willingness to ski switch when you want to, which is pretty sweet. And it kind of, yeah, like I said, goes back to that idea that it'll work for a wide range of skiers. So that's the QSD blank from Solomon, a fantastic ski. You know, like I said, it's pretty hard to not have a good time on a powder ski when you get a bunch of really good snow

 So yeah, really cool ski. You know, Salomon kind of went back to the drawing board a little bit with their QST skis. A lot of the characteristics kind of carry over from what we got before and two skis or I think three skis but I'm for sure certain that two skis remain unchanged, that being the 92 and the 106. So the QST 99 is now the QST 98 like I talked about in the intro and then the QST 118 is gone and then it's placed, we get this QST Blank

 But yeah, super super fun, kind of the gist of it is that they designed this ski to work with a wide range of skier styles, wide range of snow conditions, stuff like that. We just had a fantastic run through some of the iconic Smuggler's Notch terrain. What do you guys think? Right tool for the job today, that's for sure. Yeah mixed snow conditions, this thing just plows right through it all
