These are a bit heavier than the Selewa Alpine Extremes they're replacing (the Wildfire is the Extreme replacement) and the slightly stiffer soles should protect my feet better from sharp rocks and the like. Great tread, lots of support inside, very sturdy well made shoes - use them for everything not just hiking - they are my work out shoes and seem to be great - I switched from Salomon shoes to these.. a little pricey but they should last a long time.
