REI Co-op Sahara Roll-Up vs Wrangler Classic Relaxed Cargo

Really bummed that REI changed the design of these pants, esp. replacing the belt with elastic. Please bring back the sahara roll-up pants (or just non-convertible pants) with integrated belt!

I don't like the new version without the stitch around the whole back pocket. And, can't find that grey color . The old design was perfect.

As an owner of previous year Sahara pants, I wish REI did not change the MATERIAL from 94% nylon/6% spandex to 100% nylon. The MATERIAL of previous version is stretchy, lighter, thinner, softer, more breathable, less noisy, and overall more comfortable than the new material. Please, bring back the original material!

Where to begin. I'm a 34x30 in every other brand I own, had to go with 36x30 in these. The 34 wouldn't button and were very tight through the thighs, girdle, and seat. Sizing up seemed to fix the skinny jean feel

They are even lighter and more relaxed than I thought they would be. I really like the feel of them . They feel a lot cooler out in the hot sun .I will buy more

As others have mentioned, the Not So Good is re the sizing. Not just re the waist (I'm a 38 in everything else, but a 42 with these), but the side pockets are tiny and the pants also sit lower on the hips. But all that said, once you get past those, the pants are great. Tough, light, and they've been up mountains, across rivers and though forests and seem to be hardwearing

My boyfriend loved the older ones that you used to offer with the phone pocket more on the side of the leg. If the pocket was back to where it used to be (centered over the side seam), they would be perfect! and get 5 stars!!! Move the pocket back to where it used to be and we'll buy more! Otherwise, these are great pants. He wears them for work and outdoors. They are durable and comfortable

I have two pairs of the previous version of these pants. I ordered this new version and am returning. They no longer have the adjustable band at the front of the waistband, they are smaller in size, and the removed the zipper on the right had pocket (still on the left). Returning because of the tighter fit

The size is a bit tight. I have jeans smaller in waist size that fit better than these. But these are really nice. I just recommend buying a size bigger if you are ordering online

Also, these pants are extremely light weight. So be sure that that is what you are looking for if you buy these pants. Luckily, I also needed some hiking pants and they fit me, so we will probably not be returning them.

I thought I was buying a second pair of a pair I already have and like a lot. This pair has a plastic button instead of a metal one and they are much thinner weight. Like I said, "Not bad," but not what I imagined they would be. Just OK

Wrong. These feel uber cheap. They are super thin, the chamois lining around the waist is gone (and the tags are sewn on with really stiff thread so they rub terribly on the waist), the elastic is now two small panels on either side of the waist band & they have virtually NO give so why bother?, they've skimped on a belt loop on each side allowing a belt to now ride up over the waist band & create hot spots on the skin, the cargo pockets are not gusseted & *much* smaller & harder to access (they tacked down the sides of the cargo pockets rather having velcroed flip top pockets), and these run so small, I will have to buy 2-3 sizes larger than the last (which I still wear weekly & still fit so it's not me getting larger).

My only complaint is that I wish my local Walmart carried these so I wouldn't have wasted my money on the ones we first bought!

Also, the small mesh lined pocket inside R cargo pocket interferes with access to cargo pocket. Overall, these Sahara pants are as good, or better than, any of the many I've worn over the years. At my age, mid 70s, I don't use the zip off or roll up feature any more, so I can't comment on that bit.

I love these pants for their mobility and flexibility. On my first pair had them about a month-and-a-half now and I'm looking at buying another pair, I do wish that they had the cell phone slide in behind the cargo pocket on both sides though, outside of that they are fantastic!

Definitely runs a size small; I, too, usually wear a 34 inch waist but found the 36" just perfect. Despite not having any cotton at all in the material, the fabric doesn't feel like an old windbreaker, but light and pliable. The fit is roomy without being too baggy; I'm going to order another pair today!
