 The colors are a little more washed out when the light is on, but it is still very easy to read in most lighting conditions.  This is not going to satisfy anyone looking strictly for a smartwatch, but it has enough smartwatch features to make it a useful everyday watch. Access to your phones calendar, and notifications are useful. The internal alarms come with more options than Fitbit's offerings

 I started on a couch to 5k plan a couple of years ago and was hooked! I've since run a number of events (5k, 10k and Half-marathons), and typically run 4 days a week. I thought I would write this review as series over time as I spend more time with the FR645. I have used mostly Fitbit devices the past couple of years, but while their app infrastructure was very user friendly, I was looking for something a little more robust. On the recommendation of several running friends, I looked into the Garmin lineup

First time with Garmin, overall impressed!

I've run using an old Tomtom watch for years and have recently upgraded to a Garmin 645. Both work but the Garmin has many more features and a better app. Also a much longer battery life which is why I finally upgraded.

My new phone doesn't cut it, the tracking isn't that great and it's pretty bulky (even in my flipbelt). So which GPS watch should I look into investing into. The used route could also be a go. I found some 245's (nonmusic) for around 200, but they are used for obvious reasons.


Which watch is worth getting for a mediocre runner? I run around 3-4 times a week and do around 50 km. I want to invest into something decent that I can use for a long time.

Which GPS watch is the one to get now?

So far I'm loving the watch. I enjoy seeing all of the health and running statistics in the Garmin Connect app and I think its a big motivator. The last running watch I had was an old Forerunner 305 that died a few years ago, so I'm really amazed on how much improved the whole experience is along with the Garmin Connect app. The app makes it easy to upload runs and to update the watch, just open up the app after the initial Bluetooth paring and it starts to sync

 The apps will only log in 1 sleep activity per day. So if you take naps, it won't detect it nor will the app even allow you to manually enter it. Also, the app seems to only record sleep around the "normal sleep times" entered in the app, so if you work night shift and sleep during the day sometimes, sleep detection make be difficult. Other fitness watches like Fitbit appear to be able to detect naps, so I don't see why this watch can't

 GPS locks on in a few seconds, GPS tracking looks accurate, and the heart rate monitor appears to be accurate if it compare it to manually checking my heart rate and counting. The watch does have some automatic activity recognition. I started a strength workout and did some push ups, and the watch was able to detect the exercise and count the reps.  Battery life is good enough for me

Overall great sports watch

 I got it in early May and so far I’ve really loved it. I’ve been really happy with all three Garmin devices I’ve owned, but this one in particular is great. It does everything I could want and is loaded with every bell and whistle. It really is right behind my original classic iPod as far as favorite devices

  I couldn’t be happier with Garmin Fitness, the Garmin Connect service, or my Garmin Forerunner 645 . I’m always the first to complain when a service or product doesn’t deliver, so I ought to brag on the ones who do it right, too. Garmin absolutely does it right.

 I freakin’ love this GPS/watch.  So, today, in the car, the watch just fell off my arm. The plastic anchor where the band attached had actually broken. The band no longer had a way to stay attached and came loose

 Not a refirb, a new one. The whole call took maybe four minutes.  I couldn’t be happier with Garmin Fitness, the Garmin Connect service, or my Garmin Forerunner 645 . I’m always the first to complain when a service or product doesn’t deliver, so I ought to brag on the ones who do it right, too

Best fitness tracker/running watch I've ever owned

Great features, but I have now had tow of these watches, neither lasted a year. Time, timer and GPS distance monitoring is solid. The heart rate monitor sometimes switches off for a few days. The step monitor often goes a couple days and measures steps on an intermittent basis
