..I don't really think these fit the bill for heavy work. They definitely will saturate through in wet situations, but may be ok for inside shop work (which I will be occasionally using them for)

Solid boot, generally well constructed, not quite as nice the Beckman model

Best of all, there is no buckling leather on the upper making ugly creases and stabbing the top of my foot like many of the shoes I have owned in my life. **Quality** : I love the texture and feel of the outer on this shoe.

I bought Thursdays and Iron rangers at the same time  last year and as time goes on, I am much happier with the rangers. I think they are going to hold up longer.

Guten Tag amigos, I have a two year boot review for you all. The [TBC Captain in Natural Chromexcel](https://thursdayboots.com/products/mens-horween-natural-captain?collection=boots) has been with me through quite a few things ranging from really crap weather to throwing it at someone. I’ll go through my experiences with them and whether I recommend them.

**Purchase**: Two years ago, I bought whatever boots I could find at Sears or JCPenny. Didn’t know anything about boots having a resole or anything like that. Once my cheap boots started cracking and looking too crummy to take to the office, I decided to Google “mens leather boots” and one of the first links was TBC. I took a look at their styles and really liked the silhouette. Although $200 at the time was really expensive for me (was used to spending like $50-$70 on boots max) I decided to go for it.

Here is my usage for these first 2 years:

**Month 1-6:** This was when I put the most wear on these boots. They were being worn 5 days a week and sometimes 6 if I took them out on Saturday. I kept them with shoe trees the whole time but had no concept of resting boots so, used every day they were. They were incredibly comfortable and had coworkers asking where I bought them and complimenting them; something that never happened to me before (other than maybe my old pair of Yeezys). Besides the office, they were used for camping, hiking, city/suburban life, and in all kinds of weather.

**Month 7-12:** By this time I was already heavily into quality leather boots and my Captain’s were being used around 2 times a week. While I still enjoyed wearing them, I began to notice they were no longer as comfortable as they used to be. The heel was starting to bug me after wearing them all day. They were no longer as bouncy/springy on the insole and that really affected how long I could tolerate them. This was also when I really started appreciating having a leather insole instead of something synthetic. While the Thursday’s were always more comfortable at first, they were always the most uncomfortable at the end of the day. The natural CXL was developing a really nice patina so I wanted to keep wearing them at least twice a week to keep developing it, even if they tired me out. Also wanted to point out, Thursday did reach out to me around this time and said it's possible that my pair of boots don't have their Poron insole. The website did mention Poron around the time I purchased them but, maybe I got one of the pairs being phased out? Not really sure how I can verify whether this is the case but, just wanted to throw that info out there. 

**Month 13-24:** After about a year, I began wearing them maybe once a week? Now in present day, the insole is hard and completely flat. I had a phase where I just stopped wearing them but was still very fond of them because of how many times they served me and gone along in my “adventures” if you wanna call it that. I even threw one of them at some douche who tried stealing my pup (y'all let me know if you wanna hear this one)! I just couldn’t wear them a full day (12ish hours) without my feet begging me to take them off. Even the Iron Rangers I have feel better at the end of the day due to the leather insole being molded to my foot. A few months ago, I decided to order a really thin insole and that somewhat solved my issue. I can wear them for longer periods of time but, I still hesitate using them if I know I’m going to be walking a lot or be in spot where I have to stand for a long time. With the insoles, I now wear them once a week again and will continue to do so.

So, how have they held up in terms of the materials? The uppers are in good shape considering how much wear they received that first half year. These have been exposed to mud, snow, water, sand, beer, "fluids,"  you name it, they’ve seen it. They’ve always cleaned up nicely and continue holding up. Thursday’s Dainite-copy has also held up better than I expected. They still have probably another 2 years of life and I would rather have these over the real Dainite any day (I will never buy anything with Dainite ever again). They’re easier on the feet and have better grip imo. As mentioned earlier, the insole is most definitely the weak point here. Sometimes I see my Thursday’s and as much as I wanna wear them, I know my feet are gonna feel it at the end of the day and reach for my White's or IRs instead.

Would I recommend these boots? I would say, if you’re gonna use these in a rotation with other boots, then yes. You’re getting a good value for what you’re paying and will probably hold up much better than mine if you don’t wear them pretty much every day. I think Thursday is extremely attractive for folks new to boots or those who only want something fashionable to wear in the cooler months. I have friends who don’t care for breaking-in boots over weeks and weeks. They want something comfortable right outta the box and that’s it. Many of them have Thursday’s and love them. Because they have sentimental value to me, I plan on resoling these once it’s time. I’ll probably add a leather midsole to see if that increases the comfort. Unless TBC has upgraded their insoles since 2019 when I bought these, they will probably be my first and last pair from them, which sucks because they have some really nice options that I would buy in a heartbeat. 

**TL;DR: Boots have held up great for the most part even if the comfort isn’t what it once was.**

Thursday Boot Company's Captain Boots In Natural CXL 2 Year Review

 The material seems to be of very good quality as well. That's why I went with 2 stars instead of 1. I will remain hopeful that these boots will get better, but after 6+ weeks I am doubtful enough to write a review. I will try to remember to update if the situation improves

  I bought a pair of boots from J-Crew of all places ($225) and they lasted me 3 years and were super comfortable...

Simply not comfortable

 I own british shoes, Grenson's ,that run a full size or size and a half big so based on that experience I bought a full size down and got a 9.5 to be safe. Thinking they would fit perfect without any insole help. Result

 They are such cool looking boots by the way. Subtle and classic  UPDATE: Size 10 fits perfect. Awesome.

 A little snug around the middle part but not so much in the length and toe room. But the leather was stiff and needs to be worn in. Not really that comfortable to walk in with that fit and they felt just barely too small. I tried some insoles to soften the feel of the newness thinking maybe it wasn't a size thing

Sizing issues but classic and well built.

 I was hoping for more give/molding to the footbed but it didn't go as planned. I ended up just taking an insole out of an existing pair of shoes and using that. The insole wasn't very thick but it added some cushion underneath the ball of my feet and some arch support. I didn't necessarily want the arch support but I did want some cushion to ease the hot spots under my foot (ball of feet and under my heel)

 I'm not sure I like the insoles yet. The SuperFeet insoles raise my heel up more than the generic insole I was using before, however I don't feel the same heel-rub. It doesn't feel like it'll be an issue with these insoles. My heel feels nice and snug against the boot

 I'm too lazy to go out and try them on in a store, so I bit the bullet and bought a 7.5; I wear an 8 in running shoes (Adidas, Reebok, Saucony, Asics), 7.5 in Vans, 7 in Converse All Stars. It seemed that the reviews were split 50/50 between a half size down to a full size down

 I consider them more fashion forward. However, I was surprised at how much heritage there is with Red Wing; I had no idea.  I've already gotten a few compliments on them. They look great

Ugg Classic Men's Butte Worchester Winter Boots REVIEW

5 fit best (though it was a little tight). I had to order a pair because the store didn't have the right color. When the boots arrived, I started wearing them only to realize that they are too big. Also, I had heard about how warm the traditional boot is, but I have not found this style to be very warm (maybe because it is too big or maybe because the lambs wool is only in the upper, not in the waterproof part of the boot?)
