If you're looking for something that handles both office and gaming tasks, look no further than the Razer Pro Type Ultra. This all-white board marks Razer's second entry into the productivity market as an updated version of the Razer Pro Type with a few upgrades including a plushy wrist rest for additional comfort and improved latency for even more responsiveness. 

Inside the board, the linear Razer Yellow switches offer a light typing experience with a short pre-travel distance that's excellent for gaming while also being quiet enough to use in an open office environment. Although the keycaps are ABS, rather than premium PBT, they have a soft-touch covering that feels nice on the fingertips and provides additional grip.

Since this is Razer's foray into productivity keyboards, it does lose some of the more gaming-oriented features like RGB backlighting. Instead, it has bright, white-only backlighting, so you can still read the key legends in the dark, but you can't customize the lighting. Also, the choice of switches is limited only to the Razer Yellow switches, so if you prefer a clicky or a tactile switch, you'll have to look elsewhere. With that said, it's an excellent choice if you're looking for a keyboard to use for both work and play.

If you're looking for a wireless board to use at the office, or as part of your work-from-home setup, we recommend the Razer Pro Type Ultra. This versatile keyboard is packed with features for productivity and for gaming, making it a great choice if you only want one unit to use for work and play.

It connects wirelessly with its dedicated USB receiver, which will also pair with the wireless mice in the Razer Pro Click lineup, and it also supports multi-device pairing with up to three devices using Bluetooth. In terms of its office features, it has a comfortable, detachable wrist rest and soft-touch covering on its keycaps to provide extra grip. It's also a wireless unit with a battery life of over 200 hours when you turn the backlighting off.

Similar to the SteelSeries Apex Pro, this keyboard only comes in one switch option at checkout. However, you can't adjust the sensitivity like you can with the SteelSeries, which is a bit of a downside since the linear Razer Yellow switches are very sensitive to type on. So while you likely won't feel any finger or wrist fatigue during the day, you might find yourself a bit more prone to typos at first until you get used to the keyboard. The Razer Pro Type Ultra may look like a straightforward office keyboard, complete with an Apple-inspired white and chrome aesthetic, but, like the SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Wireless, the Pro Type Ultra is another versatile unit that hits the mark with competitive gamers and office workers looking to elevate their setup. Though it's comfortable thanks to the included ergonomic features, it isn't very portable, so it's best suited to permanent desk setups. While all the above picks are compact units, you may be one of those programmers who require a Numpad.  Razer sent us here in montreal a prototype just to check it out and to give them a little bit of feedback, so it's an early sample, but i've got a couple of opinions about it. First of all, let's talk about that mobile part. The mobile part means two things to me: number one is size and weight because when i'm traveling i've traveled with this thing a few times, those are the two primary things that i'm looking for. Anything that i carry with me has to be lightweight, because i don't want it sort of weighing down my backpack too much and it has to be small well small

 That thing is literally it's exactly the same in terms of shape and features wise, it's a little bit different, but i'll, let mike chime in on his experience using the mx mini a little bit later in the video, but right now i just want to focus on The prototype ultra, because this thing is a really unique piece - that's catered towards a very specific type of audience. So for starters, the design is very sleek and it complements the rest of razer's pro lineup. So the frame is made out of anodized aluminum, while the rest of the chassis is plastic. Build quality is solid, with minimal flex around the frame and, if you're coming from something like you know, a basic 20 to 30 dollar keyboard

 The prototype ultra costs a whopping 160 dollars. Now, if we look at the competition, the first thing that comes to my mind, that competes with the pro click mini is the logitech mx anywhere 3 mouse. That thing is literally it's exactly the same in terms of shape and features wise, it's a little bit different, but i'll, let mike chime in on his experience using the mx mini a little bit later in the video, but right now i just want to focus on The prototype ultra, because this thing is a really unique piece - that's catered towards a very specific type of audience.  This is certainly a huge upgrade. I also like the white and silver contrast since it blends in with the rest of razer's pro lineup, and you can also tell that they've taken a page out of the gaming keyboards. Now this is a full-size keyboard which i'm sure will come in handy for professionals who work with a lot of numbers. I know people who work in the healthcare industry and they rely on numpads

Razer Pro Type Ultra & Pro Click Mini Review - The Best Productivity Peripherals?

One time during my testing, Synapse 3's battery gauge turned to a red 0% when the keyboard was still about 80% charged, but the glitch never recurred. One quibble that's consistent, though: Synapse obliges you to sign up for a Razer account and contains slightly tacky links to the Razer Store, Razer Gold in-game purchases, and the Razer Silver loyalty rewards program. It's a lot of Razer-flavored push, given that the Pro Type Ultra is a productivity tool. Looking beyond that, though, Synapse 3 is a capable, easy-to-navigate utility

Otherwise, it's hard to find fault with this fast, luxurious keyboard. It's wasted on hunt-and-peck typists, but the Pro Type Ultra easily earns an Editors' Choice award as an elite input device.

 Plus, mechanical switches are more durable. (Razer rates the Pro Type Ultra's for 80 million presses, eight times the projected lifespan of the switches on generic keyboards.)

 For a full size keyboard, it is great that it supports multiple devices like the Logitech, but without true cross platform support, it's just not as strong of a value as the Logitech. The Logitech product is $99-100 and this one is $160 (and seldom goes on sale). It's a mechanical keyboard which is pleasant to type on, but I think your typical Mac user won't think that nor the plush wrist wrest that I'm enjoying right now justifies the $60 price increase. And for many non-Mac OS users, there are other multi device supporting keyboards (both mechanical and membrane) for less

 Nice. If you use Windows, Razer Synapse gives you all the functionality you could need to compete with Logitech Options, being able to bind nearly every key to whatever you need it to do if you have the patience to program it. Options comes more ready to go out of the box to integrate into Microsoft Office and the like, but overall Synapse gives you more flexibility if you know how to use it well.  So we're good to go there

 Razer would still benefit from adding true cross-platform functionality to attract a larger audience and give back some of those wonderful hot keys and shortcuts and gestures to Mac users (they advertise their Mercury Thunderbolt 3 dock as a Mac accessory even though it's not purpose built for it, so it seems they do want to attract more Mac users to their peripherals).  The other piece is the price. For a full size keyboard, it is great that it supports multiple devices like the Logitech, but without true cross platform support, it's just not as strong of a value as the Logitech. The Logitech product is $99-100 and this one is $160 (and seldom goes on sale)

This is a great keyboard, just expensive and needing some functions added.

 So now you have a mix of blue and yellow shining out from under every key and it just looks a bit muddy and ugly. I know they want to be able to say "our yellow switches" to keep in the parlance of the mechanical keyboard world, but they should have been white or clear. And the LEDs should have been neutral white.  EDIT: Software update or something? I can no longer swap my F keys and media keys; the media keys are locked to media keys now and cannot be changed with Synapse software

The backlight is... frustrating, not great for gaming

I love that the backlighting on this keyboard is soft, not crazy bright but does a very good job of showing the keys off properly. The key presses are quite silent for a mechanical keyboard, not completely gone but still quiet. The wrist rest is amazing, very happy with it and I like that it can be removed quickly if necessary. The wireless function is amazing and being able to switch between devices quickly is extremely useful

 Especially as a developer, trying to do things in dev tools where the F keys are necessary it's nearly impossible to get used to. You cannot change the default function without "mapping" the keys and then you lose the multi media capability entirely. It's almost impossible for this to have been a mistake on their part, someone read something wrong for this big of an issue to be put into a product. Additionally, placing the mute button right next to the escape key gets hit constantly

Not a great keyboard overall.

best keyboard I have used to date

 It is solid, it does not bend or flex and typing on it feels substantial. Every keystroke feels like confident and robust and the switches don't have any wiggle to them as some others may. The sound of the keys bottoming out is muted and dependant on how hard you type, but it feels like racking a shotgun. Unsure about that email you're about to send to your boss? Not if you typed it on this thing

 So I instead decided to return it and shell out an obscene amount of money on a keyboard to match the rest of my computer hardware. This isn't my first mechanical keyboard with silent, linear switches but it is definitely the best one I've bought.  The first thing you'll notice is the heft. This isn't some light weight keyboard optimized for running up a mountain with, this thing is meant to have an empire of words build on it

  For whatever reason I initially bought a $15 wireless keyboard to use for my home office. It worked but was flimsy and creaked with every keystroke. So I instead decided to return it and shell out an obscene amount of money on a keyboard to match the rest of my computer hardware. A friend of mine recommended I check out Razer's keyboard lineup. While some people have a problem with the green (loud) switches, I enjoy the sound when I press the keys, so that wasn't a problem for me. I am not big on RGB, but if you want some lights with your keyboard, this BlackWidow has a good light show. My review is not dinging the keyboard due to it having RGB, but instead because of the tactile feel when I type

Looking to get the Anne Pro 2 from Banggood (I'm in Canada), but the Gateron Red Switches are out of stock. Is there a way for me to know when they're in stock or do I just need to keep checking every now and then. 

Also If anyone has any suggestions on a first 60ish% keyboard, I would love to hear them. A little bit intimidated by building your own with all the components and soldering and what not so I was settling for a pre-built and saw good reviews for the Anne Pro 2. I like Red switches cause they aren't too loud and I like the feel (currently using Cherry MX Reds on a Corsair K70)

<p>Also If anyone has any suggestions on a first 60ish% keyboard, I would love to hear them. A little bit intimidated by building your own with all the components and soldering and what not so I was settling for a pre-built and saw good reviews for the Anne Pro 2. I like Red switches cause they aren&#39;t too loud and I like the feel (currently using Cherry MX Reds on a Corsair K70)</p>
