ProtonVPN vs AirVPN

I've been wanting to test-run a WireGuard VPN, to compare to ProtonVPN's IKEv2 connection. So, I purchased a 30-day subscription from Mullvad VPN, and connected my Samsung Note 10+.

AzireVPN is perhaps the only one that has proprietary servers and direct peering agreements with the operator (TELIA, Cogent, etc.)

As the OpenVPN wrapping of the wire packet sent to the remote side then typically goes below 1500 bytes - which most of the Internet infrastructure mostly tackles just fine. Otherwise, if the TUN packet itself is 1500 bytes, the OpenVPN wrapping increases the packet size enough so the packet often ends up being split into two packets - which impacts performance. Now mssfix is set to 1450, which is helping - but only for TCP packets, not UDP.

Most VPNs if not all premium will handle 30Mbps. I have a 900Mbps connect in both directions in the UK and I can get maxed using multiple threads using PIA on new gen servers and on AirVPN around 500mbit down and 300mbit up.

As long as you are not logged in on your browser with your YT-Account and using VPN, there should be no direct way of finding out who you are.

It does not inspire my trust to hear these people are making "critical bug fixes" and then hoarding them without explanation. Did OpenVPN3 refuse the updates, or are otherwise dragging their feet? Or, more likely, did AirVPN decide it was more interesting/important to use these fixes as a competitive advantage / differentiator for their fork, to get people to use their client or even leave upstream?
