After buying a new house and wanting an amp that had Bluetooth streaming capabilities, I decided to finally upgrade my modest setup. Went from Audio Engine A5 to these ELAC Debut References with LS 30 Speaker stands, added the Cambridge Audio CXA81, and upgraded my cartridge from the Ortofon 2m red to black. The turnatable is a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon and the Phono is a Graham Slee Communicator Gram Amp 2. 

First off let me say that Im not very knowledgeable about sound equipment and buy most my stuff on reviews and affordability. WhatHifi guided my decision making for the new speakers and amp. I think I have a pretty good ear for detail though.

3-4 years ago when I had my first setup, I was impressed how good music could sound over regular Bluetooth speakers. But this new amp and speaker combo is incredible! I'm hearing things I couldn't before and even my wife who couldnt care less about equipment was blown away. The first song I streamed (Frank Ocean - White Ferrari), I had no idea Bluetooth could sound so rich and deep. I cannot recommend the Cambridge Audio CXA81 enough, the build quality is like nothing I've had the pleasure of touching. The 2m black was installed a day or two after and I have to be completely honest, I haven't noticed such a significant difference that I can say it's worth the $500 (open box special price)

I should add another disclaimer: I haven't listened to my system above a volume that would require you to raise your voice, so I suppose I can't truly judge the 2m black.

At this point, I don't know why I would upgrade any further. I'm pretty sastified with everything and the sound is amazing. If anyone has feedback on the 2M black, please share. Everything Ive read said it's supposed to be levels above the red in detail.

Great looking setup! The stands look similar to the ones we use from Kanto with a smaller base.  I've reviewed both the ELACs and the Cambridge piece on my YT channel but haven't heard the Audio Engine' speakers yet.

New house, new components.

 It gets really complex with many overdubbed tracks of guitar sax drums and vocals less expensive turntables tend to fall apart on this cut, as they just can't pull all the information out. While i've obviously heard this sound better on some much more expensive turntables, this combo did just incredibly well for the price i have to say. After about an hour of listening to the new evo with the rainier, i felt this is one heck of an easy. Listen to rig compared to more expensive tables

It is lacking a very deep bass impact and it's not as dynamic as some in the thousand to fifteen hundred dollar table price range, but geez. It'S one incredible bargain for the price

 At the same time, many cartridges fail to track this properly, resulting in some distortion. Not only did the rainier evo combo track. This fantastically surface noise was super low as well. Next i moved on to the squeeze eastside story album from 1981

pre-production model of the debut carbon

even announced it to the world it was a
ton of fun to go through all the testing

in this great new turntable
pro-ject's first turntable back in the

1990s was called the debut
as it was their debut into turntables

this model later evolved into the debut
carbon

the debut carbon dc and now is getting
some major upgrades and changing to the

debut carbon evo
every version of the debut has just been

an incredible value
offering far more performance than most

of the competition in the same price
range

like all pro-ject turntables the debut
carbon evo is a manual belt drive

turntable
this means you need to flip a switch to

start things up
move the tone arm over the record lower

the cue lever then
raise the cue lever when the record ends

this is how almost
95 of turntables made today are designed

as there is no need to put a bunch of
gears and parts under the tonearm which

could reduce
the performance pro-ject had usually

offered a large range of color choices
on some of their turntables and that

tradition continues
with the evo being available in seven

different beautiful finishes
pro-ject builds many turntables that cost

previous models the evo is built to
those same standards

fit and finish is just top notch as is
the box that it comes packed

in taking the evo out of the box is a
very easy process with all the parts

extremely well packed
a manual belt drive turntable does not

really have a lot of features to talk
about

but pro-ject did add something many
people had been asking for with the evo

switching from 33 to 45 is now done by a
simple rocker switch

underneath the turntable 78 speed is
also now an

option to engage 78 you have to remove
the platter

and install a different belt but it's
nice to have those for those

rare 78 lp occasions as you can see on
the debut carbon dc

to change from 33 to 45 requires you to
remove the platter

the color choices which by the way all
get an 8 coat lacquer finish

offer up high gloss black white and red
satin black white

fur green golden yellow and steel blue
plus a beautiful satin walnut finish

pro-ject recently introduced a new line
of turntables in the

x series which are more expensive than
the debut range

from the looks of it they took a lot of
the tech from the x

and filtered it down into the new evo
let's look at some of this new tech the

three feet are height adjustable
and made from a combination of

thermoplastic elastomer
and aluminum pro-ject uses the elastomer

called tpe in many of their upper end
turntables

and we can verify it does an awesome job
at damping out resonances

these are the feet on the debut carbon
dc they're nice but they're not

adjustable and don't have the tpe
isolation and they're not quite as wide

and these are the feet on the new evo
they have tpe isolation and are fully

adjustable so you can perfectly level
the turntable

the rocker switch under the table
engages a variant on pro-ject's separate

speed box turntable speed control
this uses a precision crystal to

generate the signal that goes to the
motor

ensuring super accurate speed a feature
like this is pretty much

unheard of in a turntable price like the
new evo

and is an upgrade over the already great
speed control in the debut carbon dc

project made a huge change to the motor
in the evo

it now uses a large steel plate the
motor mounts to

which shields the platter from the motor
this is the debut carbon dc as you can

see they had a pretty clever way of
mounting the motor here it's kind of on

this
little elastic band here which isolates

it from the plinth
on the new evo they've added a metal

shield preventing electrical
interference from getting

up and out of that and it's also mounted
on these little tpe

washers and there's some on the top and
on each side here

so this is the platter on the original
debut carbon dc

you can see how it looks like and uh
it's a little resonant then we take a

look at the
one on the new evo it's got this tpe

damping ring all around it
and it's just much deader there's the

same platter but they've added this
which also has that flywheel effect

the tone arm is a one piece carbon fiber
design

this is one beautiful tonearm with zero
play in its special sapphire bearings

pro-ject could not really find a way to
improve this arm so it's the same as the

dc version
samiko the u.s importer of pro-ject had

been working on a new line of phono
cartridges for years

they wanted something that was a great
value from a cost

performance standpoint sumiko worked
with a team of engineers

in yokohama japan to develop a whole new
lineup a couple of years ago

these new oyster cartridges all have a
new anti-resonant body

and a special new generator system they
sound fantastic and receive

tons of positive press from around the
world one thing we love about the line

is the first three models have an
interchangeable stylus

so you can effectively start out with
the entry-level rainier

and should you wish when your stylus
wears out and needs replacing

buy the stylus for the more expensive model
and greatly improve your sound

the new evo comes with the rainier model
mounted and aligned and we see

many people opting to upgrade to the
highly regarded moonstone when it's time

for a new stylus
we feel the rainier is a pretty decent

performance improvement over the
ordophon red supplied with the dc model

too.
wiring inside the carbon fiber arm is a

high purity copper with a separate
shield that is all one piece

all the way to the solid gold plated
rear mounted rca jacks

the connect-e cable is included with
the evo this is a pretty serious rca

I will mainly use it with my headphones (will add some speakers some time later when I have the extra cash). Would you recommend getting  preamp+headphone amp combo (something like Schiit Mani + Magni), or a preamp with a headphone jack (Cambridge Audio Alva Duo seem to have good reviews). Btw I'm planning to but Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Evo as the turntable.

The turntable is well designed simple to use. Plays 33. 45, and 78 formats. One button to change between 33/45 speeds

 Recommend using a long nose pliers rather than fumbling with fingers. Plays and sounds great. However, found after plugging in the phono cable on the back of the player a second time, the right channel failed, then was intermittent.

Great Product, great sound, cool design, possible quality control issues.

 Swamping the mids, the upper frequency detail, remained wholly intact, offering a host of information and keeping a sense of discipline right across the sound stage. The often aggressive frequencies were noted by the evo guitar was in your face. Percussion was dominant and vocals were distorted and cutting. Yet the evo easily kept the entire track in control and added a balance that enabled the music to retain its inherent rhythm

 You have the debut carbon dc at 299 pounds. You also have the debut carbon record master high res at 649 pounds. This is a more of a lifestyle design that focuses on its built-in analog to digital converter and you've got this. This new design, the debut evo, the latest release from the austrian turntable makers and i've got to say it's probably the most intriguing debut

* Speaker Amp: SMSL AD18. Finally my first (but probably not last) audio setup is complete! The sundara is my first set of pro-consumer grade headphones and I am loving the sound so far. To my untrained ears, the audio I am getting is just so much richer and fuller in comparison to what I was using before.

How's it sound? Read a ton of reviews ofc, but I'm debating upgrading from my fidelio x2's to these soon!

Congrats!!! I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am.  I’ve got mine this week and I’m so overwhelmed. I had tried he400i but the bass was lacking too much for my taste, and it gets distorted in 80% volume for tracks with vocals and bass. 
Replaced it with the sundara after extensive research and WOW. Isn’t it amazing? And you probably got an even fuller experience, because I’m pushing mine with a little buddy called Fiio Q1 MarkII, over balanced output, but I can’t complain. It’s all I hoped for and more. Bass boost ON is a cherry on the top of this cake hehe

Can vouch for the zen dac, I have the hip dac which is supposed to be virtually the same sound and it’s great. I couldn’t think of a better option for the price point

It is finally all here!

 Okay, so it comes in like this metal housing, it's fairly lightweight, but it feels solid. You have a power button on the front and a volume knob all in one and then a 3.5 millimeter output for headphones on the front. Now, switching over to the back, you have the 24 volt input is well as a optical input

 So let's say you had your speaker set to ten and you were headphones set to twenty plug in the headphones it's set to 20. Take out the headphones, the volume automatically adjusts back to ten. That way, you don't blow up either a pair of headphones, because the volume will go from zero to sixty five four speakers and if you put it at sixty-five four speakers and then you plug in a headphone in a place at max volume. If you got efficient, headphones, they're gon na break and vice versa, you put thirty five four headphones and then you unplug the headphones as playing thirty-five out out of the speakers

 A micro USB input, a coaxial input and in 3.5 millimeter input. So that's a lot of options. Oh and it's got bluetooth, oh and then it looks like it has NFC

SMSL AD18 Speaker/Headphone Amp REVIEW (AMAZING AMP UNDER $150)

 They both have the same remote and they both have tone controls that allow you to adjust the bass and treble to your personal preference. They had EQ presets that I found somewhat useful because they didn't go overboard in their tuning now on to what's new. The SI 300 uses bluetooth 5.0, as opposed to bluetooth 4

 I normally have these Wharf tails connected to an AVR that is over a hundred watts per channel Class A B, and I really couldn't tell the difference between playing them on the SI 300 versus on that AVR and that's a huge compliment. That'S probably one of the best compliments I could give this amplifier is that I couldn't tell that difference as somebody with a better ear, or maybe with different speakers, could tell the difference I just couldn't. The other thing I did notice is that this amplifier is quiet. Now, if I did turn it to the maximum volume, I was able to get some hiss out of them, but not so bad at most usable volumes

 Now, what's the same? Well, the price is about the same as of right now, they're, both under $ 150. They both claim the same amount of power at 80 watts per channel at 4, ohms and 40 watts per channel at 8 ohms. The screen itself looks very similar in size and shape they're, both multicolored screens, and they give you the option to choose a color that suits your preference. The UI itself seems the same, and you can use them both as decks

 There'S also a 1.4 four-inch color screen, which is cool and on the top. There'S something kind of fascinating, you'll see an NFC tag, and I was wondering what that was about and it's actually pretty cool that allows you to just touch your phone. If it's NFC enabled touch your phone to that and it'll connect you to Bluetooth without having to do anything, so you can pair and also unpair, just by touching your phone to this

 It also has some built-in EQ so there's flat. There'S something called s DB, which is proprietary to them, I'm assuming that that's some kind of dynamic adjustment, I'm not sure exactly because they don't say too much on your website about it all. It says here on their Amazon. Is it's a patented s, DB, sound and plus and minus 8 level treble and bass adjustment? Okay? So, as far as these different EQ settings, what I did was I using my calibrated mic to take some measurements to see what these are actually doing
