I think I have a pretty good ear for detail though

After buying a new house and wanting an amp that had Bluetooth streaming capabilities, I decided to finally upgrade my modest setup. Went from Audio Engine A5 to these ELAC Debut References with LS 30 Speaker stands, added the Cambridge Audio CXA81, and upgraded my cartridge from the Ortofon 2m red to black. The turnatable is a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon and the Phono is a Graham Slee Communicator Gram Amp 2. 

First off let me say that Im not very knowledgeable about sound equipment and buy most my stuff on reviews and affordability. WhatHifi guided my decision making for the new speakers and amp. I think I have a pretty good ear for detail though.

3-4 years ago when I had my first setup, I was impressed how good music could sound over regular Bluetooth speakers. But this new amp and speaker combo is incredible! I'm hearing things I couldn't before and even my wife who couldnt care less about equipment was blown away. The first song I streamed (Frank Ocean - White Ferrari), I had no idea Bluetooth could sound so rich and deep. I cannot recommend the Cambridge Audio CXA81 enough, the build quality is like nothing I've had the pleasure of touching. The 2m black was installed a day or two after and I have to be completely honest, I haven't noticed such a significant difference that I can say it's worth the $500 (open box special price)

I should add another disclaimer: I haven't listened to my system above a volume that would require you to raise your voice, so I suppose I can't truly judge the 2m black.

At this point, I don't know why I would upgrade any further. I'm pretty sastified with everything and the sound is amazing. If anyone has feedback on the 2M black, please share. Everything Ive read said it's supposed to be levels above the red in detail.

Great looking setup! The stands look similar to the ones we use from Kanto with a smaller base.  I've reviewed both the ELACs and the Cambridge piece on my YT channel but haven't heard the Audio Engine' speakers yet.

New house, new components.

 It gets really complex with many overdubbed tracks of guitar sax drums and vocals less expensive turntables tend to fall apart on this cut, as they just can't pull all the information out. While i've obviously heard this sound better on some much more expensive turntables, this combo did just incredibly well for the price i have to say. After about an hour of listening to the new evo with the rainier, i felt this is one heck of an easy. Listen to rig compared to more expensive tables

It is lacking a very deep bass impact and it's not as dynamic as some in the thousand to fifteen hundred dollar table price range, but geez. It'S one incredible bargain for the price

 At the same time, many cartridges fail to track this properly, resulting in some distortion. Not only did the rainier evo combo track. This fantastically surface noise was super low as well. Next i moved on to the squeeze eastside story album from 1981

an incredible value
offering far more performance than most

of the competition in the same price

like all pro-ject turntables the debut
carbon evo is a manual belt drive

turntable
this means you need to flip a switch to

start things up
move the tone arm over the record lower

the cue lever then
raise the cue lever when the record ends

this is how almost
95 of turntables made today are designed

as there is no need to put a bunch of
gears and parts under the tonearm which

could reduce
the performance pro-ject had usually

offered a large range of color choices
on some of their turntables and that

tradition continues
with the evo being available in seven

different beautiful finishes
pro-ject builds many turntables that cost

previous models the evo is built to

fit and finish is just top notch as is
the box that it comes packed

in taking the evo out of the box is a
very easy process with all the parts

a manual belt drive turntable does not

switching from 33 to 45 is now done by a
simple rocker switch

underneath the turntable 78 speed is
also now an

option to engage 78 you have to remove
the platter

and install a different belt but it's
nice to have those for those
