 It’s a very classy and elegant looking pen. The fine nib writes beautifully and the capping mechanism is simply sublime. I bought it through Amazon for less than $100, which, for a 14k gold nib with a very unique looking pen, is a bargain in my mind.

Depending on where you buy this pen, it may or may not come with a CON-40 cartridge converter. This particular purchase did not come with a cartridge converter, but with a Pilot branded black ink cartridge. This wasn't a problem since I have a few CON-40 converters handy. But if you do use a CON-40, there is a downside to it: because the CON-40 is so small

 There’s a small bit of feedback, but overall this is one of the smoothest fines in my collection. I am in love.

 I never post my pen caps. This pen is very compact and will easily fit into vest pockets or shirt pockets. It is very fine quality and very lightweight. It is one of the silkiest writing pens I have used and rivals pens costing almost a grand

Okay don't flame me, genuine curiosity: are Sailor PGS (and their other pens) worth the price?

I have this pen, it’s beautiful but heavy. To me it’s not a first pen, particularly with a stub. It would feel really weird to her if she’s only used ball points, gel or fine liners. 

My GFs first fountain pen. She says “it’s interesting…” but doesn’t quite seem sold on them yet.

In my first hand experience, the sailor gold nib is as good as you will get in a <$300 pen. If you want to get a converter (not included) and use bottled ink, I find Sailor converters much better than Pilot or Platinum. This review is for a fine nib, I already have a medium nib which is even smoother. I wanted a fine for business notes
