Pilot Elite 95S vs Pilot Varsity

It’s a very classy and elegant looking pen. The fine nib writes beautifully and the capping mechanism is simply sublime. I bought it through Amazon for less than $100, which, for a 14k gold nib with a very unique looking pen, is a bargain in my mind.

I know this is fountain pen forum, but I'll also say, the disposable rollerball and gel pens today are, in my opinion, even better than the expensive fountain pens. Pentel Energel is amazing, and Uniball Jetstream is a "do everything" pen that never fails. They are affordable and a lot less fuss, mess, and expense than multi-hundred dollar fountain pens.

There’s a small bit of feedback, but overall this is one of the smoothest fines in my collection. I am in love.

I've written (NOTE: I write--I don't use these for calligraphy) with these on various types of paper ranging from the cheap and flimsy to cotton varieties and even parchment paper, and I have always been pleased with the ease with which the ink flows--I have not experienced any smears (the ink dries quickly, and I'm left-handed so I'm very quickly moving over the ink with my hand) or stutters (where the ink ceases working for a few moments or the nib clogs). The nibs on these pens work fabulously at distributing the ink and making whatever is written look (and feel while writing) quite attractive. That said, not sure that these nibs would last long if the pens allowed for refills, but since they do not, I have no complaints. I would (and have) certainly buy them again, and I would consider buying them for a friend who is fountain pen friendly
