 It’s a very classy and elegant looking pen. The fine nib writes beautifully and the capping mechanism is simply sublime. I bought it through Amazon for less than $100, which, for a 14k gold nib with a very unique looking pen, is a bargain in my mind.

Depending on where you buy this pen, it may or may not come with a CON-40 cartridge converter. This particular purchase did not come with a cartridge converter, but with a Pilot branded black ink cartridge. This wasn't a problem since I have a few CON-40 converters handy. But if you do use a CON-40, there is a downside to it: because the CON-40 is so small

 Lastly I did not feel confident enough in the caps retention to have it in my pocket. I’m sure it works well in other uses, but I bought it to be a pocket pen.

A step up (under $300) - Pilot Custom 823 - great nib, the filling system, hard to beat this pen at any price. Pricey (up to $700 or so) - Pelikan Souverän M1000 Green - beautiful pen, fabulous nib

All that said, among the most reliable modern soft nibs (i.e., have some flexibility when you write, although not up to dip nib standards) are Pilot’s Falcon (FA) nibs, soft fines, and soft extra fines. The Pilot Falcon with a SEF nib might be a decent balance for you between everyday usability for general writing and expressive line variation

Nice hairlines, although a bit too stiff still. I don't flex it beyond a double broad, and only for headlines.

It has come this far. Do I have an alternative? I'm now using a modified noodler's Ahab with a zebra g nib as my daily writer...

..i think it might be the ink type or the rotary mechanism not providing consistent ink feed to the nib :(  looses a star on the review for that till i find a solution (might try refilling the empty plastic cartridges manually with a needle)

great fountain pen

  The weight is fairly light as might be expected for a resin body.  The Con-50 converter for bottled ink works well.

Classic Elegance

. Well the second one is a medium nib. Now the difference between medium and extra fine is huge. I figured that for my second i didn't want to just get a fine as it would probably be too similar to the extra fine and i figured medium would be more appropriate

 I expected a pen of this price to be made with quality material and to write beautifully. This pen did neither. This pen is made out of plastic, thick plastic but plastic nonetheless. I have never had a fountain pen write so scratchy before in my life
