Mullvad also supports OpenVPN TCP 443 and multi-hop with Shadowsocks proxy (bridge mode), both with WireGuard and OpenvPN. These should work. If not, you'll need something like Perfect Privacy VPN.

I recently moved to an apartment that provides internet access for all residents via a contract with an ISP and I have been unable to download torrents ever since. They have a router and firewall set up with content filtering. I wish I knew that before signing the lease. I have been using an anonymous SOCKS5 proxy for a few years, instead of a VPN, just for torrents. I tried PureVPN before that, but the split tunneling hardly ever worked right and I need that because my Plex server won't work right over a VPN.

I thought maybe double NAT was the problem, so I tried bypassing my personal router. That didn't help. I found out about the content filtering when it blocked my attempt to go to my favorite torrent search site. I think it's complete bullshit that they're doing that, but I don't think there's anything I can do to force them to stop. If I wasn't forced to pay for it, I would just get my own internet service. I can't set up port forwarding because I don't have admin access to the router, so I think a VPN is my only option. I can set up VPN passthrough in my router and I'll run qBittorrent on a different computer than my Plex Media Server.

What I need to know is whether or not a VPN will get blocked by the property management company's firewall. I doubt they would block VPN tunneling altogether, because of people working from home, but maybe it would block WireGuard. I don't want to pay for a VPN if it won't work. If I can't use WireGuard, should I still get Mullvad or is there a better option?

<p>Update: I was able to get torrents working with a VPN, although not as well as I would like. Apparently, the firewall is blocking WireGuard, so I have to use OpenVPN on port 443. When I tried using WireGuard, it would only stay connected for a few minutes. I didn&#39;t get Mullvad because I was able to upgrade my proxy account to a VPN account and just pay a little over $6 for the year. When it expires, I&#39;ll probably switch to Mullvad.</p>

I trust Perfect Privacy and ovpn.to for years. They are expensive, but you can (could?) trust them. Most cheap VPN provider have a history of leaks and privacy violations (like NordVPN)

I would suggest a solid client like TorGuard but of course you need to establish what’s leaking and why.

Internet provider coming after me for piracy… I always have my VPN on. Not sure how or why they are seeing any activity (I also rarely download anything or host anything)

Been using TorGuard for a couple of years and they have been rock solid.  They have a custom config generator for OpenVPN & Wireguard connections that you can plug directly into QbittorrentVPN or DelugeVPN.

I am looking to switch my VPNs. I was using Ivacy but lately it has been acting up not to mention I have been having issues with it randomly dropping connection but not properly running the killswitch. I read that TorGuard is good but I am not sure what options to get on it. To be honest not sure if it is even the best one to get. I use Qbittorrent for my torrent software.  Any advice for someone who is lost?

Monthly VPN recommendations megathread: the only place for mentioning specific providers

Torguard has been the fastest VPN I've used. PIA, CactusVPN, and PrivateVPN have been ~ 20mb/s slower which is not bad at all but using a 50% off code on Torguard gives you the cheapest price out of them all making it 100% worth it.

<p>Torguard is based in the USA, so first and foremost, if you&#39;re looking for something that is not part of any of the eyes cooperation, just look at another provider. They also haven&#39;t done any auditing as some of the other vpns so that could be concerning to some people. In my case I didn&#39;t really care about it. Occasionally I did ip check and saw no leaks.</p>

<p>I used it mainly for torrenting because torguard has port forwarding and they worked pretty well for it. Downloads were going pretty steadily. The few times I tried it on Netflix it was a hit or miss, but I haven&#39;t researched that part that much, so I can&#39;t say that I do not recommend it for streaming. </p>

<p>Price-wise they&#39;re not free and they&#39;re not super cheap, but their monthly price is somewhat decent comparing to some of the other providers I&#39;ve checked. It gets significantly more expensive if you want to stream movies and so on, though, so keep that in mind when buying the cheapest option that they have.</p>

My torguard review

This is a better deal for them than for you, and consequently we get people here every week regretting they were locked in a multi-year subscription. Torguard is popular among YouTubers and some websites because they have a generous affiliate program, so they cash in everytime someone signs-up with their code. Conversely, Mullvad lacks affiliates so every recommendation is from a happy user.

Is tomspark to be trusted? Im think of buying torguard with three year deal so i can get it for 90$. I know it is based in the US, but it doesnt really matter, does it? The vpn i have seen a lot good talk about is Mullvad, but that is based in the 14 eyes too, and imo they would 100% start logging user if goverment were to ask.
