Pentel GraphGear 1000 vs Uni Kuru Toga

Nice steady an functional lead pencil. Pricy! Not sure if I could support that price hence the reason for 3 stars. If not for the price 4.5 stars, would of been my grade!

The lead in this pack is good lead, although oddly, it is not the lead specifically designed for the kuru toga. The kuru toga lead can be purchased online and put into this pencil, although the NaNoDia lead does work well enough.

I am not talking about the reliability itself but about how comfortable it is to use. This pen allows you to do more with much less effort !! 2) You can hide the sharp and sensitive penfront inside the pen. While this may not be an obvious advantage, consider that you may accidently drop it once during its lifecycle. The fact that the pens tip is hidden on the inside does not only protect your investment itself it also somewhat lessens the likelyhood of an actual damage to your other inventory, your expensive new shirt - or worse an injury to a family members eye (kids) etc

Why? It's the Grip. It's Smooth Metal, with a very few Grooves. It feels slippery in the hand, while the Roulette has a knurled Grip and is easier to hold onto, while still having a high quality construction. I do hope that Uni will update the Roulette with the "W Speed" Mechanism currently used in the Pipe Slide and Advance Models

Sadly, there just doesn't seem to be a pencil out there that meets this. Ironically, Pentel makes a few different erasers in a pencil like casing. I guess if I wanted to carry multiple things in my pocket I could carry them both, but I'd prefer if they figured out how to put both of them together in one writing instrument. But back to this pencil, its eraser is small and useless, but no more so than its competitors, so it stays in the pole position for the pocket pencil

I'm honestly not sure why it can't have the same eraser as the plastic Kurutoga models, which is still not a great eraser, but is a bit thicker than this one. The issue is not much of a bother to me because I use a separate eraser either way, but it may be of concern to others.

I purchased for more control and better feel when designing. Well balanced, heavier than cheap plastic. Writes smooth and clean- long tip that retracts at a fraction of the price of other comparable products. Overall nice pencil

That's why I like fountain pens. As you said, it's the balance between smoothness and control.

It's certainly heavier compared to the plastic body of a papermate (hence the 4 stars), but not too bad and I love that I won't be throwing it away. I might actually buy 1-2 more to make sure one is always at hand.

I don't have to. Minor wish: it's a hybrid, metal with few plastic parts. An all-metal option would be great; just a bit more weight. This almost docked a 1/2 star from it, though its good enough overall to be pushed up to five for the autorotate
