Got this in the black, well constructed as expected with Patagonia. Only reason I gave it a 4 stars. Is the black on the model is none of the colors as advertised for sale It's straight black or blue as not shown on body. Great bag though, many trips could be had with this backpack

 You have this large mesh slip pocket here and i really like the use of mesh to make it very easy to see what's on the inside and then i really like the size of it too. It'S a taller compartment. So it's going to be great for larger accessories such as this blue part, portable bluetooth, speaker and power bank that i have here. It was able to fit very easily, but this might also be a great spot to put a phone and then, in this compartment you also have a small clip

 I can also toss in an additional smaller packing cube that has my socks and t-shirts and things like that, and then i can close this up and then the bag is set to travel for at least a long weekend. Maybe even a week-long trip, depending on how minimally i was packing, so just really love the versatility of the size and how much it can end up holding without looking that big and then the last thing that we're going to take a look at in this main Area is the tablet and laptop sleeve, so starting off with the tablet area. I really like that it has a dedicated sleeve for your tablet. Currently, what i have in here is my ipad mini, but this would definitely be able to hold up to a full size

 Even when it's a little bit more packed out, the bag does have a pretty deep volume. So it can tend to stick out just a little bit, but i still found that it didn't get so big that it would be uncomfortable to walk around crowded areas or jump onto public transit, continuing on with the straps and the back paneling. So far, the bag has been really comfortable to wear. I really like how the straps have been implemented here

They have this meshy material to help prevent moisture from building up, and then i also really like that the straps have a nice width to help prevent the bag from digging into your shoulders, even when it's a little bit more packed out and then on the straps

Patagonia Refugio Backpack Review - Awesome 28L All-Purpose Pack

 My only complaint is I wish it had a non slip material on the inside of the shoulder straps because when I just sling it on one shoulder it will slide off easily. It's great when using both straps just not one. For a pack designed mostly for commuting I wish this was a consideration.

Durable

 Cheaper bags rely mostly on mesh, which tend to rip or stretch out over time, but the refugee hose pockets feel durable and long-lasting because it uses more fabric than mesh. And three, you can use the compression straps to lock the water bottle in place with the carabiner. Nothing is more annoying than the water bottle slipping out on an airplane or subway and rolling into the next aisle. I Say that from experience, so it's nice to be able to lock the bottle in place

 The Refugio backpack has a false bottom in the laptop compartment, meaning that the sleeve is stitched above the actual bottom of the backpack. The laptop sleeve actually ends here. This is becoming more common in bags nowadays for good reason because it protects the laptop from hitting the ground when you put down the backpack. The false bottom also saves the bag from needing a ton of extra padding, which adds bulk and weight

 In addition, the laptop buckle is nice, but the placement makes it so the buckle rubs up against the laptop itself instead of the sleeve. This makes me worried about the laptop getting scratched over time and I just don't feel comfortable using this as my go-to laptop carry. The plus side, as I mentioned before, is the minimal padding reduces bulk and weight of the pack. Number Six, Ironclad Guarantee Patagonia is legendary

 although I like the false bottom of the laptop sleeve I Do not like the lack of padding. There's virtually zero padding, though the tablet sleeve does have a scratch resistant cloth inside. In addition, the laptop buckle is nice, but the placement makes it so the buckle rubs up against the laptop itself instead of the sleeve. This makes me worried about the laptop getting scratched over time and I just don't feel comfortable using this as my go-to laptop carry

Patagonia Refugio 28L Backpack  - 6 Things I Like and Dislike

I've been using this as my "take stuff to and from work" pack for a month or so.  I like the clip to secure the laptop in its place, which is something that other packs I looked at did not have.  It is somewhat smaller than the worn out bag it replaced, but seems to be sufficient. The shoulder straps are a little bit slippery when worn with my rain coat, so single-shouldering it can be insecure

 Also straps are too close together. (You can see this by comparing other packs in photos.) A comparable bag in size and looks to some degree (but far more roomy and well-designed) is the Northface Jester - but its straps do not compare to Osprey or Gregory packs.

 Um, there's no whistles or any gadgets on here. Like I said, it's not a serious hiking backpack. Most serious ones have the whistles there you could blow into for emergencies. Um, this does adjust if you need needed to adjust

 very comfortable against your um, against the layers you wear and doesn't feel like it's it's suffocating you. You have sternum straps here to stabilize the load. If you have a heavy load, that's what these do. That's what this does

 This does not have the waist strap. There's no waist strap on this backpack, it's just just the shoulder straps and if you want to stabilize a little all you have is a sternum shaft trap. A little disappointed it doesn't have a waist strap, but it does cut down on the weight of the backpack, but you can also cinch it up together. There's also this cool Patagonia logo on the Um front end so people know what backpack you wearing as you approach them

 So when you hike in, this part rubs up against other things. It's very durable in the front and the bottom, but towards the back where it touches your skin. the material is soft and silky, which I love that it's still durable, but it's just soft and silky. So I have some items for the trail

 Your laptop your tablet, tech, pouch things like that inside the main cavity. I just have my pick design tech pouch here and then I also have a little notebook inside the padded tablet sleeve. Here. It'S actually very well padded here and it's got this kind of microfiber lining on the back

 And here we have some hydration porting, which we'll get into a little bit later. Coming now to the compartment of the bag. We have three main compartments in the refugio backpack. One of them is hidden behind this little slit here

 Coming now to the ladder locks, the tri glides for the shoulder straps. There are simple duo, flex hardware, so very easy to use as well and at the top we have a very simple and basic haul handle really good for picking up the bag up and off the ground. And here we have some hydration porting, which we'll get into a little bit later. Coming now to the compartment of the bag

 We have a highly breathable air mesh back panel and shoulder straps. They have this kind of wicking here. That makes it really easy for breathability and comfort. So that's good on the shoulder straps

A Great Mid-Sized Bag - The Patagonia Refugio Backpack

 So i really like the organization in here for the tech, then just got like my wallet and some other bits in here that are, you know, just kind of smash down in there so close that up and take a look at the main compartment. So once again you can see you know that compression strap i'm trying to zip it all the way down, and it's just you know, sort of blocking it. So you can just undo those so that you can zip it down a little bit further or you can just keep them like relatively loose um, which that doesn't really look too clean either. But if you keep the compression straps relatively loose, then you know you can zip it down just fine

So let's open up the main compartment here, so you can see what i've got inside just got my laptop. So i believe this fits up to a 15-inch laptop

 If you want it doesn't really look as neat. If you do and then, of course, this compression strap does block the main compartment zipper. If you use it so just something to be aware of, i kind of like how it holds the water bottle into place, though so that's kind of nice. But again it's going to block the main compartment
