8 pounds. It'S not gon na win any comfort awards, but considering it's a packable duffel without any back padding, it's actually pretty decent. The shoulder straps are about as good as you're gon na get on a pack like this and to show you, i attached a sternum, strap from a different bag and it does help and again, like almost all these packable duffels. The black hole doesn't have any kind of back padding or air ventilation, but that's consistent

 It'S thick, durable, waterproof. This tpu coating makes it a little shiny, but it's quite a bit more flexible than fabrics with similar coatings. For example, the timbuk two bag has a tpu coating. However, it feels stiff and quite a bit more plasticky than the black hole fabric

 They don't cut corners with materials and hardware, it's rugged, durable lightweight and has a huge main compartment. I see these things all the time in the airport when i travel and if you like this style of duffel, this is likely going to be one of your go-to travel duffels and considering the quality on this thing, the price that i paid for it 129. This is a great, high quality duffle that can take virtually anything you dish out at it. Similar to other top brand “premium” duffles (such as North Face, Patagonia, Osprey, etc) the sea to summit is my favorite. Really well crafted, very thought out details such as the lash loops, configurable straps, bright yellow interior makes finding items easy, etc. only drawback is it’s heavy, but if you’re after something to last you years of use and abuse, this is the best duffle out there

Top of the line duffle, a tad heavy.

This bag is high quality in the stitching and durability, but the 45L is smaller than you would think. I am 5'6" with an athletic build and my back makes the bag fill small even with the straps fully extended in the backpack mode. This being said, I do how I can switch the straps to fit other means of carrying such as handles or the traditional duffle bag strap. There is a zipper pocket on the inside of the bag on the "lid" of the bag which none of the pictures really show

 It still looks gorgeous. The build and material are very sturdy, which of course one pays with some extra ounces of weight. For me that is not a problem since don’t use it for anything that require ultralight. One external pocket for house keys would have been great, but also I knew that was not there when I bought it, so it’s fine

I was in the market for a duffel bag for a planned trip to MOAB; a duffel that could carry my Creek 35 gear bag, a 60m rope bag and a week’s worth of clothes. I had it down to the North Face Base Camp XL at 132L and the Patagonia Black Hole 100L that really measures out closer to 130L than 100L. Then I stumbled across the Sea to Summit 130L. The more I compared features, the more obvious it was that the Sea to Summit is the best of the three, and it isn’t even close

 In backpack mode, even fully extended, I'm playing fat-guy-little-coat to get the pack on. Also, using the backpack straps as regular duffel bag handles seemed like a good idea but fails in practice. The magnets are cute, but fairly useless. The straps do not fit comfortably in the hand in duffel mode

Quality- excellent. I T-rashed my old Helly Hansen bag. I will have to play much harder to trash this one!

Size- they are big, and they have lots of sizes. Added bonus to this bag is that it’s more oval shaped, so the bag has a longer flatter surface on top and bottom. It packs better into more areas.

Here's what worked: They are monumentally well-made, abuse-proof, and adjustable. You have to love all the ways you can set up the straps. Whoever the bright bulb was who decided to use yellow lining on the inside to make stuff more visible in the dark of our tents, give that person an Oscar. It works

 However, when I picked the bag up and held it by one of the side handles, the magnets wouldn't hold leaving one of the shoulder straps to drag on the ground. c) no exterior pockets of any kind. I could use a place to stash a water bottle, or a boarding pass or my phone. A few small things I'd like quick access too without opening the whole bag
