Yet, even with the macbook in the main compartment, I feel it give as I walk to work everyday, buckling a couple millimeters at a time, from ridge to ridge in the woven pattern on the strap. Break into a trot and it just gives out. .

Rather than the Patagonia Atom sling, I would recommend getting a packable backpack that you can toss in your rucksack while you are travelling. I used to have a cheap Chinese one, which worked ok, but then broke after a couple of years, and I upgraded to a 16L Matador backpack, which while expensive is really great for day-to-day use, tough-as-nails, and completely waterproof.

Its difficult to get open sometimes because the zippers get lost and the bag collapsing on itself doesn't help this at all. Not worth the asking price.

But since this is manybaggers reddit :) . When I am at work especially during hot weather, I like to go for walks but HATE things in my pockets (especially in work clothes). So I bought the bellboy sling 7l because I wanted a bag I can keep at my desk that I can use everyday to carry my items (since I will come to work with a messenger bag to carry my machine). If its windy (from Chicago) I can pack a wind breaker into it, or carry a rain coat if I think it might rain at some point in my walk

Motorcycle riding with this pack is very comfortable. Have actually used this to go on two day camping trips with no real problems.

On one side I have my larger 1.5L bottle nestled in the 750ml pot, the other side I have my 1L squirt top bottle(s). In the pocket above I stick my first aid kit. The top depending on how the bag is packed can trap down my sleeping pad (otherwise I use a strap system), the hip belt is big but I feel its just right for what I like to keep in it

If you're going to use the compartment to load up gear, be prepared to spend an extra 30 percent of the cost of the bag to reinforce it.

The important thing is to keep weight down. Sling bags, obviously, don’t evenly distribute weight. Fully loaded down, my bag is still well under 10lbs, carries everything I need for the day, as well as everything I need to jump on a flight half way around the country or even to walk home in a pinch.

I was looking for a mid-size back pack to replace my aging swiss gear synergy laptop bag. It was solid but I grew tired of overpacking since it was a large bag and I began to suffer from turtle back syndrome. Tactical packs are by nature very efficient and customizable and the switchback is a perfect combination of size as well. I love the organizational options in the admin pocket and the main compartment can be stuffed just as much as my older pack but the ability to cinch it down with the cinch straps keeps your contents close to your back and a lower profile which was one of the main draws for me

I am in love with the ability to sling it over my shoulder and onto my front to access gear and get out of the way when on public transit or sitting down. I refuse to wear a normal backpack again. On top of all this, the buckle on the strap makes on/off incredibly efficient. Buy this bag and love it
