This backpack is so spacious! I have primarily been using it for hiking/camping and climbing. It can fit all the gear I need and then some. It's very durable and seems like it would hold up well in rainy/wet conditions.

The rest of the main compartment is a top load bottomless pit, so use those packing cubes people! The interior lining color differs from pack to pack depending on the exterior color you choose. However, Patagonia made sure to use different color exterior and interior colors, which we found really helpful when searching for gear inside the pack.

I needed a new backpack for school, I hadn't bought one in almost 5 years so I've been waiting and waiting to find the perfect one. This is definitely it! It's perfectly fits my laptop and books without being too clunky or heavy. I was worried about the size being a little too small but I was pleasantly surprised to see that it's a really great size! I'm happy I found this on sale, since Patagonia is usually so expensive.

I ended up returning both, since a 19" size would have been my preference due to airline restrictions. If I were to keep one, I would have kept the S/M due to the shoulder strap placement making the pack ride more comfortably. I am 5'2" and according to the Osprey fitting chart with my torso length either size would work.

I just wish the laptop sleeve area was a bit bigger. I had to squeeeezeeee my 13 in. laptop in. Snug, but it fit!

As others have noted, the laptop in the front creates a real problem. For reference, I was able to fit the same amount of stuff into my son's Topo rover bag-which is only 20L and it felt much lighter because the laptop was in the back. For someone taller and heavier this might not be an issue. Though I haven't used it for anything extensive like a 20-day hike, for walking in cities, in transit, and hiking, I've really liked it and it's been comfortable for me. It doesn't have a camera compartment but I usually carry 2 SLR cameras with me and it's worked for me!
