 So that's what it looks like when you're carrying the knife again, I just want to show you the opening mechanism you're going to press or pinch the index finger and thumb together that pops open the handles. So if you release it, that's going to clip onto the blade once you release that locks the blade in place. You can see how they've hollowed out the inside there it's kind of a hardened sheath for the blade to sit in now. It has a pretty solid lock up on it

In micarta, with black traction coated blade the brothers, a bushcraft fieldcraft knife, is going to make an excellent outdoor tool and has slicing chopping and baton abilities thanks to its thick stock and modified Scandi grind

 Seven: five ounces for the micarta handles and nine point nine five ounces for the g10 handles the sheath weight of the knife comes in at three point: nine: five ounces with a total weight of thirteen point, seven or thirteen point nine, depending upon the handle scales, and Here, we'll touch quickly on the sheath. It comes with a standard molded, Kydex sheath with tops stainless steel rotating buckle, and it also comes with a firesteel piggyback, and this is going to have a feral rod and two magnesium rods and set securely in that Kydex, as well as the standard tops whistle the Retention on the sheath is very strong and is going to hold the knife securely in place here.  The knife has a blade made from high carbon 1095 tool, steel. The blade is heat treated to between 56 and 58 Rockwell, and this is a good compromise in 1095. Between edge retention and toughness, the blade is quite robust at 3/16 of an inch thick so that, in combination with the heat treat and modified Scandi grind on. The blade makes this an ideal tool for batani and chopping tasks

 The blade thickness comes in at Point 187 or three sixteenths of an inch. The weight on the knife comes in at nine point. TOPS Knives Brother of Bushcraft Fieldcraft Knife Overview

 If I had to spend a week in the bush I would not have confidence in this knife but it looks great, well it will look great again once I grind the blade back to get the chip out!

 My last outing I chipped the blade (quite ugly) about 1/32" deep by 1/16" long piece of blade broke off while processing a wild rabbit. Apparently the rabbits neck was to much for this blade (cotton tail, very soft bones). Yes I had the rabbit on a felled tree trunk so the damage absolutely came from the rabbits neck.

3) The ESEE-4 was $72 cheaper than the Bravo 1. Price was a factor in my decision, but it was the lowest in priority. Since I had no complaints about either knife, the fact I could sharpen the ESEE and not the Bravo, combined with the price difference, is what drew the line.

 Both knives feel/look like better quality than TOPS too, and both have better warranties (no questions asked). Its also worth mentioning how beautiful the Bravo 1 blade is, and it was probably the sharpest, but only by a negligible amount compared to the ESEE-4. In terms of the handle, I preferred the ESEE because of the tackiness. I had no qualms with the Bravo handle, I just preferred the feel of the ESEE because the Bravo was slightly more round and could possibly become slippery from sweat

I Ordered the TOPS first ($124), after lots of research, but when it arrived I was disappointed with what I got for that price. It was a great looking knife, but it was very heavy, bulky, and the quality questionable (by quality i'm talking about appearance and feel, not functionality). It also couldn't cut through a piece of paper, it would rip the paper. The sheath was huge compared to the one that came with the ESEE-4, and the fire starter required pliers to remove

Decent, but ended up returning the knife for an ESEE. **Read review if you're curious for the comparison to ESEE-4 and Bravo 1**

 I'm glad that I got the B.O.B. Its handle feels better in the hand than either ESSE and its overall design is more ergonomic

 My only complaint is that I do not care for the sheath. The clip for it doesn't fit well on a a regular sized belt (ie. not a thick leather belt). It can move around some on the belt making it hard to get to

 Lots of metal, awesome weight and balance, amazing grip and it will cut through almost anything. I didn't buy this knife for the fire starter it comes with. And I haven't used the fire-starter either, that being said, this knife is worth every penny simply for the knife itself, and the sheath it comes with. The sheath is kydex, with a belt holder that swivels so that you can place the knife holstered on your belt horizontal or vertical, or tilted, However it is right-sided only

Last knife you will ever NEED to buy!

 It is made for bushcrafting/fieldcrafting. Heavy for a backpacking knife but lets face it, if you are lost, stranded, stuck or injured on a mountain or anywhere for that matter this will not fail you. This is a knife that I would and will carry. Blade length is just under 5 inches which gives it the ability to skin game very well

 I own other knives for other purposes and this one is my favorite. Thick enough to withstand some hardcore use. It is made for bushcrafting/fieldcrafting.
