The Outdoor Research Coze Down Parka wraps 250 grams of 700 fill power goose down around you from head to mid-calf. The high-quality feathers keep the jacket light, and the pliable nylon shell is cloud-soft. An insulated that extends beyond your face in what Outdoor Research &#40;OR&#41; calls a down-baffle ruff helps keep the weather at bay. It works like a fur ruff to block wind, though not as well. OR says that this jacket zips up to your nose. While its collar is very tall and wide enough to tuck your face into, it only reached a bit above our lead tester's chin. Still, it's the most comfortable tall collar in the test, with a knit lining and inner down baffle to hold in more heat. Knit wrist-cuffs and lined pockets tucked beneath the down keep your hands warm. 
This jacket is frumpy in a way that very fashionable, or very tall, people can probably pull off as elegant. Our lead tester loves wearing it, despite teasing from a few friends &mdash; friends who weren't nearly as warm as she was. We do wish it cinched at the waist, though, which could lend it a more flattering shape. More importantly, it would stop frigid temps from sneaking up and into our down cocoon. It's not a problem with temps around freezing, but it might be when the weather turns truly cold. We'll keep you updated. If you want to float around outside in a cloud, thumbing your nose at conventional fashion, seriously consider the Coze.

Taking warmth, backcountry-ready features, and value into consideration, our favorite option for the 2022 season is the Outdoor Research Super Alpine. Most importantly, you get a whopping 8.8 ounces of 800-fill hydrophobic down, which is considerably more bang for your buck than most casual jackets here. The OR also sports a water-resistant Pertex Quantum Pro shell with a DWR finish that offers impressive protection against dripping ice and wet snow, along with functional extras like internal stash pockets and adjustments at the hood, hem, and cuffs.

All that said, the Super Alpine isn't for everyone. The parka has a fairly technical look, and the longer hem won’t appeal to some climbers and skiers. Second, the 30-denier shell fabric is respectable in the performance category and keeps weight low, but the jacket is more fragile than most casual options on this list, especially those with robust shells like the TNF and Patagonia above. Finally, the Super Alpine is on the heavy end compared to many of its direct competitors—Rab’s more affordable Neutrino Pro (largely unavailable at the time of publishing) weighs over 8 ounces less, and for a big step up in price, the Patagonia Grade VII ($899) and Arc’teryx Alpha Parka ($999) are both warmer and lighter. This coat has some nice details that just make it a really great winter coat. I really appreciate that there is a double zipper so I can unzip when I get in the car. There are also zippers on the side bottom hem for more flexibility. The lined pockets, the cuff gaiters, and the super soft and plush lining at the neck really make it enjoyable to wear

I moved to Kodiak this November and knew instantly that I needed a better coat. My Columbia puffer and Sessions ski jacket were not cutting against the -7 cold with 50 mph winds. I ordered this jacket, and could not be happier! Even on Alaska’s most brutal days, I can still get out there and explore without freezing. I run cold, so this jacket has been a life-saver

Best Winter Jackets for Women of 2022 - GearLab

 I'm 5'7" and 135lbs. I got the Medium. It might be a touch big, but I would have that over being shorter and too tight. Good to go over other bulky sweaters is what I would prefer

 I have a Mackage & Canada Goose parka that and are very heavy, large and cumbersome, and this is just as warm, longer, and so light weight. I love the navy blue, the interior pocket and fleece lined, zip pickets. 

I would definitely size down, this runs large. I usually wear a large, but based off others reviews, purchased a medium, and I can easily layer a heavy sweater underneath.

I live this parka. I’m;I’ve in Minnesota and was worried it wouldn’t be warm enough because it’s light weight, but it’s very warm. Warm and light weight coat.

I can't tell you how much I love this coat! It is the bomb- the thoughtful details are endless! The best hood  to cover face and chin in winds. Anda neck warmer!  It's light weight, but very warm! It completely blocks the wind and repels snow and rain. It is completely lined- not half, as most coats!  with the best two inner pockets. One hold s my long checkbook wallet and the biggest one you can put gloves in or even a small scarf! Talk about utility! All pockets and zippers have pull cord ties! Amazing

I really can't say any thing negative- if I had to I might say it's duck down- which to me always has a odor compared to goose down, but you get used to it
