  Really folks, can you make things a bit more adjustable.  I mean this pack has a rain cover, and lot of space for a 22 L bag and nice features. Just not fitting us women that are a bit fully around the middle.

Nice pack if you are short or Small

 The weight in the bag helped me to make my decision on my purchase. This bag fit me like a glove. The trampoline back and straps are so comfortable. 

Great size for a day on the trail!

 Compared to my other two packs, this one's straps are extremely rough and uncomfortable, as well. I think maybe it's just not a fit for me, I'll be returning this one.

 The torso is too short, even with the straps adjusted to their highest point -- for a comfortable fit of the straps on my shoulders the hip belt sits in the middle of my waist! I agree with another reviewer that the magnetic chest strap/combination hydration magnet is not good in practice either. The magnetic enclosure is very awkward to use compared to a standard clasp. Compared to my other two packs, this one's straps are extremely rough and uncomfortable, as well. I think maybe it's just not a fit for me, I'll be returning this one

 It’s 19.75” tall which makes it borderline at best for under seat use or passing budget airline sizing boxes.

I have used ULA’s backpacks for hiking and they have a good reputation in the ultralight hiking world, but I don’t get the appeal for travel bags. They aren’t very light and there is the discrepancy of Pack volume including the mesh outside pockets. For example the Dragonfly is marketed as a 30 liter bag but the main body is just 21.75 liters

The ULA Dragonfly is a bag that comes up here with regular frequency for people looking for a smaller bag that is light wight. One of the biggest issues people have/had with it is that it had a huge embroidered ULA Gear Logan utah logo on the front and to get one with out that you had to special/custom order it from them  

That is no more. This pack now comes by default without the branding/logo so it does not require a custom order to get it removed. 

This might alleviate some people's issue with it and make it a more attractive option. The interior dimensions are still quite small so space may still be an issue.

ULA Dragonfly - Now without Branding

 They have a good adjustability, and this nice sternum strap very comfortable pack to wear the shoulder. Straps are a little bit stiff when you first start wearing the bag, but just like most shoulder. Straps, like this they're going to break in after you wear the bag around for a while. The interior organization is really similar to a duffel bag, except for this flap folds down from the top instead of from the side and then the inside

 That makes this great as a hiking backpack and if you think this pack is a little small for you, then stick around because i'll be comparing the dragonfly to the larger 40 liter ula atlas. In a later video i intended to get the dragonfly with the vx 21rs fabric, but they sent me the regular x-pack. So i won't be able to compare these fabrics - it's not as soft as the rx, but it's still a great fabric. This is the vx21

 They do this by making the straps extra wide with this pronounced s-shaped curve. That fits your shoulder and torso very well they're made from two layers of foam padding. There'S this thin firm foam padding on the front, and then this softer squishy foam behind this breathable mesh on the back they're, not very thick, but the width of them helps distribute the weight across your shoulders down. Here they have the standard adjustable, sternum, strap connected with a plastic duraflex buckle and then some other accessories that you see more commonly in backpacking backpacks like these little plastic d-rings, and then these two mesh stretchy pockets

 This is a small, minimalist backpack, but it has a lot of external features that are going to add to the capacity and the comfort it has these large stretchy pockets. It has a side compression straps, a top access brain pocket, as well as a laptop pocket. These stretchy pockets are similar to what you see on a lot of other backpacking backpacks. These things are large enough to fit basically any size

ULA Dragonfly Review - Ultralight Travel Backpack

 It has a large main clamshell compartment, a separate laptop compartment near the back panel, and a top zip compartment. Appears to be less structured than the Litehaul, which is what I'm interested in, and has some low-key exterior stretch pockets that look like they'll hold quite a bit.

I'm interested in a bag like the one in the title. The closest one I have found is the Kathmandu Litehaul 38L. You can see that the top scrotum part goes into the main bag. I would like to fill that scrote with things I want easy access to - dopp kit, electronics, day bag, snacks.  Then I would put my packing cubes in the main larger compartment.  


Seems like a smart way to organize. What other bags out there are set up in a similar way? thanks!  


Not looking for the Cotopaxi Alpa since you have to unzip the whole thing to get to the two compartments. Both compartments need external access. :)

35L-40L with two main compartments

 So let me show you what they've just put together for me. This pack, right here, like I said, is very similar to this pack, but I went with even wider shoulder straps and the foam feels really thick and I'll. Show you some pictures of an issue that I was having with this pack and then I'll talk about how we solved it so because, sometimes when this pack or the pack below it has been multiply, packed the top of it kind of wants to fall away from The shoulders, so I had them, put load lifters on this pack and now my son and I both have very similar packs, I'm usually carrying most of the weight anyhow and, like I said this, one has a little thicker or wider shoulder straps. It'S got load, lifters and, of course, the x-pac material

 Let me show you this pack and compare it to the one that I've been using, which is really my sons, let's get to it. Here'S the pack that ula made for my son and when he's not backpacking, I've been using it and I really like it. So I had them make me something similar, but the specs on this pack are pretty cool. I'Ve got wider, shoulder straps with the new thicker foam, I'm using Justin Anderson's, shoulder, strap water bottle holders, and you can see

 Folks, over there, 200 bucks is what they charged me for this pack and, like I said, I'm looking forward to trying it this weekend. My New Custom ULA Backpack

 I personally came here hunting for a better backpack which would be lighter, more comfortable, easier to pack, and have user-friendly features (and after several months of deciding, I'm hoping to buy the [ULA Dragonfly](https://www.ula-equipment.com/product/dragonfly/) soon).

I have a 35L Tortuga Setout and have used it only once, for 3-week trip to Europe back in October. It fit in the overhead cabins (and I was even able to smush it under the seat once), I enjoyed not having to carry a bag up and down stairs, and liked having my hands free in the airport and stuff. BUT…

It was packed full and it was HEAVY. My back would hurt while carrying it, despite the sternum strap and waist strap. I subsequently went on another trip and used a small hard-sided roller with a carryon slipped over the handle, and it was heaven. Just so much easier all around and I thought I had made up my mind to switch to that method. 

However, I keep reading posts recommending other backpacks (e.g. Osprey Farpoint), saying they’re light and comfortable to wear, and I’m wondering if I should just try a different brand (and packing lighter) instead of abandoning backpack travel altogether in favor of a roller. Anyone have a similar experience?

Here&#39;s the collage with the clothes I took (only 12 items total), the ones I wore on the plane have a little airplane decal: <a href="https://imgur.com/9crehzp">Clothes</a> I packed the clothes into packing cubes, which added a little weight.

Additional stuff that was in my Le Pliage tote, which was my personal item I kept with me at my seat:

3-1-1 bag (hand sanitizer, 1.5 oz face wash, Dr. Bronner&#39;s, contact lens case with lotion, 1 oz BB cream, travel-sized hand lotion, tiny cream blush, mascara, eyeliner. I didn&#39;t take any shampoo, conditioner, or shower gel)
Pouch with prescription meds, allergy pills, and vitamins (only enough for the duration of the trip), with a few bandaids and Pepto Bismol tablets
Airpods
iPad
iPhone
Zipped wallet with passport, vaccination card, pen, and Field Notes pad
Chapstick

Abandon backpack travel or give it another go?

 But two days ago riding to work I got caught in what not really a blizzard by Michigan terms, But it was snowing pretty hard and there's lots of slush on the road and when I got to work it was covered in snow and everything on the inside was still dry and you could see the little water droplets stuck on the outside. So you know, 30 minutes in pretty harsh weather and getting splashed by cars. Uh, it handled it very well and I got caught in the rain last week. more of kind of like a freezing rain and it did well there too

 so when you open that up, this is a 15 inch Macbook Pro and it fits in there with room to spare. As you can see, it says it fits up to a 17 inch laptop and I believe that because of all that extra space there and it slides down and we've got you know about that. far of extra room, Slide that over there. but there is on the back side of this laptop panel

There is a little bit of extra padding here and then you've got the back panel here which adds that extra padding. and it's honestly surprising to me that when there's a laptop in there, you really don't feel it

 I've got it completely packed here, so as you can see, it's very, very stuffed. so opening the zippers is a little slow because there isn't really a tab to grab onto. You can use this attachment loop down here and it kind of assists with it, but when you're coming down this way, there really isn't anything to grab onto and it's completely stuff full right now so it is a bit slow. This isn't really a pack I was getting in and out of all the time so it wasn't a huge deal, but if you needed something quick or you wanted to zip it up and go, you're not really going to be able to do that
