  Really folks, can you make things a bit more adjustable.  I mean this pack has a rain cover, and lot of space for a 22 L bag and nice features. Just not fitting us women that are a bit fully around the middle.

Nice pack if you are short or Small

 The weight in the bag helped me to make my decision on my purchase. This bag fit me like a glove. The trampoline back and straps are so comfortable. 

Great size for a day on the trail!

 Compared to my other two packs, this one's straps are extremely rough and uncomfortable, as well. I think maybe it's just not a fit for me, I'll be returning this one.

 The torso is too short, even with the straps adjusted to their highest point -- for a comfortable fit of the straps on my shoulders the hip belt sits in the middle of my waist! I agree with another reviewer that the magnetic chest strap/combination hydration magnet is not good in practice either. The magnetic enclosure is very awkward to use compared to a standard clasp. Compared to my other two packs, this one's straps are extremely rough and uncomfortable, as well. I think maybe it's just not a fit for me, I'll be returning this one

 It really feels like whatever you have in here is gon na, be very well protected, so a nice amount of space, no sort of internal organization or fleece lining in this compartment. So what I currently have in here is my Ray Ban sunglasses with their case and even let those in there there was still some leftover space. If I wanted to toss in something with my wallet or my phone, while going through TSA and then behind that there's another larger compartment, I really was impressed that I was able to effectively use both of these pockets, even though they kind of sit on top of Each other, so they have kind of independent volume, which I really like to see here, and so a lot of capacity in this can park this one's a little bit different at the bottom of the compartment is actually this measurement tool allows you to see into the Main area of the bag can't actually open it, but it's still nice to just have that additional ventilation and so jumping in plenty of space here great for bulkier accessories. First thing that I have here is my Kindle e-reader and then I also have my field notes

 This has a side axe, it's zippered, to make it very easy to get your laptop in and out at the top there's a zipper garage to help add under some additional protection from the elements until opening this up very easy to get your laptop out plenty of Space in this compartment - currently, what I have in here is my 13 inch macbook pro, but this can definitely hold up to a 15 inch laptop, as you can see, there's some leftover space at the top, and so the compartment does offer a nice amount of padding, Especially on the back, because you have that really rigid frame sheet that also helps support the bag when you're wearing it with a lot of weight, no sort of fleece lining on the inside, which would've been nice to see. But I do like that. The compartment is actually suspended from the bottom of the ground to help add that extra bit of protection when you drop your bag so pulling my laptop out now with the compartment empty, you can get a better look at the inside. It does come up a decent amount too

 This one here offers a nice amount of volume and space. It'S gon na be great for holding some smaller accessories that you don't want getting lost in the bottom of the bag, and so what I currently have here is some of my tech stuff. I have just a USBC dongle and then I also have my Apple Magic Mouse and so a really simple compartment here. I love that it's very easy to see what's on the inside and then just how much these compartments end up coming out

 Notebook and then I have my GoPro Hero, 3 plus and then the last thing that I have in here is just a simple lightning cable to charge my phone, and so even with all the items that I had in there, there was still plenty of leftover space. I can easily fit both of my hands in here. You can see just how much this compartment comes up so plenty of volume here this is gon na - be a great spot for maybe putting something like a dub kit or your toiletries, while you're going through TSA. If you want to get to them quickly, so really loved the simplicity and the amount of space offered in both of these compartments at the top, and so the next area that we're gon na take a look at is the laptop compartment, and I really like that

 Then on the back right here you have two sleeves. This first one right here is for documents or a tablet. Then in the back one right here is a padded one for a computer or a hydration bladder and for the hydration bladder. Also, you have a hanging tab right here so you can secure your hydration bladder up here and not worry about it sliding all the way down into your pack at the bottom of the sleeve

 Then you have two compression straps, a top one and a bottom one to help secure that weight that's in the main compartment and that's not going to jostle around. Then it has two built-in water bottle pouches. They can easily hold a nalgene each and for additional retention purposes. I just added a carabiner so I could snap in the nalgene and not worry about it falling out while I'm going along the trail

 So to start off, it has the well-known 3y zipper design from Three Mystery Ranch. Then it has five molly panels on the front, three molly panels on each side, so you have the ability to customize how many pouches or additional stuff you want to take along with you. Then you have two compression straps, a top one and a bottom one to help secure that weight that's in the main compartment and that's not going to jostle around. Then it has two built-in water bottle pouches

 I did that for this recent day hike that I took this on and it was a good good fit, wasn't too tight and I can. These dump pouches can also hold magazines, it help it holds three each, three and four magazines. and then I tried it with 308 magazines and the 308s were a little bit tighter to fit but the M4 magazines were just sliding and you were able to easily slide out. Then on each side you have two mesh detail pockets for additional batteries, three by five cards, additional writing materials or glow sticks

 So I took this. As I said before on a day hike recently I was. I was pleased with it. This was the first time that I used Mystery Ranch and I had no complaints with that

Mystery Ranch 2 Day Assault Pack Review

 I feel like this should be just a little bit more burly, a little more bulky because this bag is 27 liters, so if you fill this up, it's going to be quite full. So having just like a little bit of padding on this strap, I think that's going to really help in actually using it because if the bag is pretty full, this is going to be a lot of weight in one piece of single webbing. It's going to kind of dig into your hand, so I might be nitpicking that a little bit. but hey, everything can't be perfect and uh, this I think could have a little bit of improvement on it

 There is a rear laptop access to the bag and all of the zippers are Ykk Aqua guard. Inside the bag, we have a floating laptop sleeve and in front of that we have a tablet holder. The bag also features a loop so you can hang a water bladder. You have two side zipper pockets and further down across the front of the bag

 The materials are a 500d Cordura and Ykk zippers. The 2d Ap is the classic Mystery Ranch tri-zip bag. It features some Molly webbing across the front and sides of the bag. It also features two exterior water bottle pockets

 This was my first true experience with the Mystery Wrench tri-zip bag again the front. I only had it for about two weeks before I moved it along and that was because the bag was just too small for my needs. I loved the bag, the bag. The build quality was great, but I just I needed a little more space

Mystery Ranch 2 Day Assault Pack  (2DAP) | GREAT EDC PACK | Real User Review

 A bag of this size should come standard with both of the missing features I mentioned. It doesn’t make sense for someone to load this is for a day hike and have the bag moving around because it lacks a proper hip belt. All of these features would make the pack more versatile and allow you to transition from EDC to a hiking day pack. 

I’d recommend the bag if you only want to travel back and forth to work or in the airport, but look elsewhere if you want a smaller day pack for hikes.

Good bag, but missing some key features.

The other bags I was considering was F-stop and  Shimoda Design. Mainly cuz they are designed for hiking thus translate well to comfort. But unfortunately the two brands are much more expensive and do not have retail store in my country selling them, so I could not try on the bags in person.

The camera cubes insert I am using are, Peak Design camera cube, F-stop ICU unit, and Tenba camera wrap. I got to say that I do lose out the feature of quick access to camera gear, but I do have the comfort of carrying the gear the entire day and dont feel any discomfort at all.

I’m pretty good usually at reading reviews, checking YouTube vids, checking bags in person if it’s possible. I however am at a standstill in figuring out a good camera bag solution. 

For context: I shoot with a Nikon D500. Usually have 2 lenses with me. 18-300mm, 35mm, 50mm. 

I like the idea of something that isn’t just a dedicated camera bag where the compartments take up all the space in the whole bag. 

I’ve looked at the Peak Designs, Wandrd, Boundary Supply, Brevite, etc. 

I’ve also considered just getting a camera cube insert I can put into one of my backpacks that I already own. 

I’m not looking for something huge. Something around 20-25L. 

Have folks tried one or both of these options and found one to be more efficient and useable than the other? Recommendation of other bags you love? Any guidance is appreciated.

So torn in the search for a Camera bag.

  I have a 16" mbook pro and have had to switch over to the Mystery Ranch 2 day assault pack to carry it. Ugh..

Just wanted to share. Currently swapping my gear from my Mission Workshop Sanction over to the X-Case. 

Initial Impression: Straps. Straps everywhere haha. I knew this going in and I enjoy it. Materials are fantastic as per all CofB products. Zippers, buckles, fabric etc. are all great. It’s a side/top entry bag. Can be carried like a brief, sling, or backpack. Very good internal organization. As far as something I don’t like (no bag is perfect) - I’ll probably remove the hip strap as I don’t see myself using it much. I wish the water bottle pockets were larger a bit. There’s 2-3 that can be used. 1 for sure can only fit a standard plastic water bottle. The other 2 fit my 20oz Hydro Flask perfect. A 32 wide mouth won’t fit, but a 32 standard mouth would. 

I also have a X-Pod so I already had an idea of what to expect with this bag. I really like it so far. After I’ve used it for a few days /week I will post back with some pictures and more thoughts on it.

 This shouldn't be too surprising though since it's advertised as a tactical pack.  Though a 17" laptop will not fit in the laptop pocket, it will fit awkwardly within the main cargo area. I have a beefy Alienware 17" laptop with dimensions that exceed 17" and was able to easily fit it within the main section of the pack, but I think you would need a protective sleeve for your 17" laptop because despite the low weight of the pack, the netted pockets within it are quite heavy duty and somewhat abrasive. You could however fit the brick with cord in the laptop pocket unless of course you were going for battery power only

  The options for adjustments are perfect allowing me to get a great fit and seated perfectly along my back and shoulders, I hate packs that hang low because that unsettling center of gravity gets tiring after a while. On the other hand it is easy to adjust the straps on the move which is nice because if anyone has ever worn a pack for an extended period of time, then you know how nice it is to loosen, tighten, and switch to sling mode here and there to help free up spots on your back that get too hot over time because even with breathable material like that present on this pack, the bottom line is that there is still weight pushing material along your back and you will still get hot depending on how long you wear the pack.  The primary harnesses are thick and comfortable, even when I loaded the pack for weight I didn't feel anything digging into my shoulders. I'm used to seeing red marks on my shoulders with other packs and this comfort is something I'm not used to

 I do like the 3 way zip design. It feels great on my back fully packed and I like the extra access zipper to the lab top comartment.
