Based on other reviews as well as the tech specs of this pack I bought this for my 10 yr old who had a variety of adventures this summer! She used this as her carry-on for a trip to Southeast Asia - carried all her on-the-plane activities and then became her day-pack for day trips as well as her 'suitcase' for a 5 day river trip in Sarawak. She then used it as a full-bore backpack on our back-country trip in Glacier. She was able to carry her sleeping bag, crazy creek chair, and some clothes in the main compartment as well as various daily needs e.g

Great for kids beginning backpacking pack!

 Success!!! Reference child is 46 inches and weighs about 50lbs and the adjustments are at the minimum, construction is good, should last him a couple of years just long enough to break in my second child ;-)  Remember, when introducing children to backpacking start short, keep the pack light (rule of thumb keep the pack under 20% of their body weight), take frequent breaks and above all have fun! First off, this pack is kind of expensive for a kids pack but it is the only pack that I found that has a suspension system.  It keeps the weight off my boy's shoulders and puts it where it belongs, on his hips. He was using a school type backpack before I bought him this and with 5-8lbs would tell me his shoulders hurt after about a mile or two.  Since using this we've been on a few 4-6 mile hikes and I don't hear anything about sore shoulders with about 10lbs

Great bag...for specific purposes

From what I can tell, this bag could also work well as a hiking daybag/overnight bag since the yoga straps could be repurposed to carry my REI Co-op Quarter Dome Air Hammock or something similar sized.  The only reason I wouldn't use it for that is I already have a similar REI bag that has a water reservoir in place of the laptop pouch.  Plus I need to keep this thing looking nice for work.  But it would work so long as you were traveling light!

Excited to try this out this weekend on a flight as my carry on.  I'm sure it will perform well since I effectively have to take all of the same things around for work onto an airplane, but will sub out the lunch box with the included clothes pouch+toiletries for a long weekend.  (FYI - the tag and description may say it comes with two removable pouches, but there is only one.

This is a very comfortable bag and nondescript enough that it works in a professional setting as well as a travel bag.  I really dislike using flashy bags or things with prominent logos when carry materials to and from class as a college professor..

 They loop onto the bag and every time I put the bag on I have to straighten the straps out at the top because they're flipped over. They're comfortable straps, but I cant figure out why they have them attached like that. This bag doesn’t convert to another way to carry it, so there is no reason to attach the straps like they’re removable. But this isn’t enough of an annoyance to prevent me from using the bag

First off, I love the size. I can pack everything I need for the day and still have space. The removable roll-top bag is handy and helps with organizing your contents inside. I love that it has a laptop pouch and my iPad seems secure when it's inside even though it is smaller than the pouch

The one area of the bag I don't love and why I took my review down a star are the shoulder straps. I've found the way they attach at the top of the bag to be really annoying. They loop onto the bag and every time I put the bag on I have to straighten the straps out at the top because they're flipped over. They're comfortable straps, but I cant figure out why they have them attached like that

Stylish and Versatile

 For me That is one feature that is essential on a high-load capacity pack. Having said that, to my surprise the pack still was quite comfortable to wear! One other feature that I find myself lost without is either two rows of vertical daisy chains OR having some kind of horizontal clip strap. Since I intend this as a hike pack, I like having those features for attaching quick access items like jackets. I can still roll mine up and stuff it under the top load lid and it works just as well
