On the inside of this pack, you can use these to put your packing cubes whatever it is you have underneath there and compress that down.  If you’re going for a week or more, especially in cold weather, or need to bring along photography equipment, snorkeling gear, or just about anything else the larger size might be the safer bet since it can always be cinched down for smaller loads.  This pack easily fits into all but the smallest regional jet overhead bins since it squishes down. I do like to have the pack cover on to keep the straps clean when I put it through the scanner at security or in the overhead bin. I miss the integrated hide away straps from the Fairview although these straps are much more structured and could work for hiking

 Now the real money maker pocket, this is a really important pocket and it's TSA approved, which is fantastic. So you're probably already stoked and sold in the backpack, but just to assure you that it is business worthy, school worthy, creativity worthy, there you go, TSA approved. It will hold a 15 inch laptop, I currently have my 13 inch MacBook Pro with the nice beefy case, we got a review on that as well, and then a nice little tablet pocket I have right there with today's notice from my clients. So yeah, fully travel compatible right there, two way zippers again on that pocket

 So if you're traveling, it's a great travel backpack, carries really really well and you saw me take out, this is an average day's worth of stuff for me, but I still have plenty, I probably had 10 to 15 more liters of room and space I could have used in there.
