Hello! Does anyone here write regularly with a stub nib? I find I'm not fond of F nibs as my writing seems kind of scraggly. I have one B nib pen - a TWSBI Eco. I love how thick the line is but it's quite juicy (which I like but not for daily writing).  I figured my best bet was a M nib pen and they make up the majority of my collection.  I previously wrote with the Pilot Parallel 2.4 mm and it was scratchy and not a pleasant experience.  Today, however, I wrote for the first time with a Lamy Joy 1.5 mm stub and I. Loved. It.  The writing experience was smooth, the line thickness was fantastic and it wasn't super wet.

This has caused me to re-think what kind of pen or nib I want to use on a daily basis. Should I swap out the nib on my TWSBI from B to 1.1mm? Is the juicy factor because of the roundness of the nib? or should I try a B on another pen?  What would you do?

I agree that Opus 88, specifically the Omar and Demonstrator are chunky. These are the ones I own and like for the oversized style and the models with #6 nib.

I don’t like thin pens. I’m looking for something with some girth. What are my options?

What's a good fountain pen for note-taking for a college student?

 It uses cartridges, but doesn’t come with a converter. The TWSBI Eco is a great pen that may be more than you are thinking of spending ($30) but is a really nice pen that could be a buy it once and done. It is only bottle fill, and that adds about $10 for ink, but the pen is great and hold a lot of ink. Depending on your use this can be a factor

<p>Edit: Thanks for the help! Bought a pilot varsity, and after discovering the appeal of the pens, I have just ordered a Lamy safari. I still dont see myself ever spending more than 30 on a pen, but maybe I&#39;ll be sucked deeper into this hobby later on.</p>

Newcomer wanting to get into fountain pens, had a couple small questions

 Now writing with this pen is where I have my problems. I compared it to the Lamy Safari and Metropolitan Pilot which are both cheaper than the TWSBI ECO and both write several orders of magnitude smoother than the TWSBI ECO. This pen is incredibly scratchy and this was directly comparing to the other 2 pens with 2 different inks. Carbon Ink Black and Waterman Serenity Blue

Better value out there.

I really like Lamy Safari and Al-Star because they force me to correct my grip. But for longer periods, I like my TWSBI Eco! I rotate the three because my grip is slightly different with each, and that seems to help with hand fatigue.

For the students &amp; teachers out there. What are you preferred pens for long form note taking &amp; study writing sessions. Getting hand fatigue after writing a page with my current pens. Wish to avoid going back to gel pens.

UPDATE March 2019: After over a year of using this pen, I'm my review from 4 to 5 stars. Ink flow is very smooth, and even the slight feedback this extra-fine nib had while writing/sketching is pretty much smoothed out as well. This plastic body is built like a tank; threw it around in all my bags along with keys and phones and everything and there's not a single scratch on it. The massive ink reservoir is also really, really handy for travel and on the go, as I hardly ever have to refill, and the clear body makes it incredibly easy to see when the ink is getting low

Here's hoping it lasts for years to come!  The only other fountain pen I purchased before this was a Pilot Metropolitan Fine Nib, and this was a very nice upgrade! I've heard that fountain pens with piston mechanisms are difficult to clean, but this one definitely wasn't. Just take a cup of water, dip the empty pen in, and twist the piston up and down a few times

I really really enjoy writing with this pen. I got a Pilot Metropolitan last year so when I initially picked this one up, I was a little put off by how light it felt in comparison. but after a few weeks of using it I'm super happy with the weight difference - this one really glides across the page (in a Clairefontaine notebook) and it's really nice to be able to switch between a lighter pen and a weightier one. it is also of course very cool & useful to see how much ink is left in the pen

This pen (TWSBI ECO) is fantastic! Easy to fill, easy to clean, nice plastic case with included tool, liquid silicone sealer and pictured instructions on pen care. Overall thrilled with this purchase and would purchase another in a minute. Highly recommended.

A Fantastic Pen!

I have bought a total of 5 of these pens in my life, and I’ll buy them until they stop making them. They are extremely convenient - they never dry out, never leak, and although I’ve broken two of them due to my own carelessness, I consider these pens to be some of the most durable low cost pens on this site. I hope they never stop making them because I will never stop buying them.
