The Oboz Sawtooth II Low BDry hiking shoes are incredibly supportive and comfortable for all-day hikes, especially when carrying a 20-30 pound pack. The midsole is plush, and the proprietary insole provides structured support, making the Sawtooth II an excellent option for multi-day trips. The lugs are chunky enough to shed mud and grab on loose surfaces, while the rubber is soft enough to grip rock slabs and logs. Oboz's BDry waterproof/breathable membrane kept our feet dry from rain and ventilated away sweat. One of the updates in this model &#40;over previous iterations&#41; is larger vents for increased breathability. While some hikers with narrow feet may need to wear a thicker sock for optimal fit, we appreciated having extra room in the toe box to allow our toes to wiggle and splay. The shape of the upper, combined with the insole's shape, holds the heel perfectly in place, minimizing lifting and rubbing. 
The only thing we don't love about the Sawtooth II is its weight; it is the heaviest shoe in our review. And in our bucket test, even though it proved to be waterproof, the leather upper absorbed a measurable amount of water, making the shoes even heavier. However, the extra protection, support, and durability of the Sawtooth II is an acceptable tradeoff, especially for hikers heading out on longer treks.

 They have a clean look similar to styles I have enjoyed for the past twenty years. Even though they are wide they do not appear especially chunky in fact they look similar in width from above to other similar not wide hiking shoes, but these have more room inside.

 It was time to invest in a new pair, so i went and got the sawtooth too low, non-waterproof version from oboz. So what i want to do is just give you my first impressions, the first look, and also i'm going to take them out on a hike, come back and tell you what i think about how they worked out after a multi-day hike. So thanks for watching and let's get into it so my first thought when i took them out of the box was: they must be really heavy because i was struck by just how clunky they are and the huge heel cup on it and when i got them Home and put them on the scale i was pleasantly surprised to find out. Actual weight is 2 pounds, 5

 Generally speaking, i like to get a shoe that is more mesh than leather, but the downside well, because then they dry quicker. Since i wear my trail runners wading through streams, the downside of that is that more mesh tends to be less durable. So my old saucony pair of shoes that i just loved would only last about half of a season before they'd be all torn up and almost unusable with toes sticking out now these are more leather than i would prefer and i'm worried about the length of time. It'S going to take for them to dry, but on the other side, they're, probably going to be more durable

 Uh. One concern that i have that actually is a pro anacon is just the ratio of leather to mesh.  Vasque trail runners and those were two pounds: three and a half ounces. So only two ounces difference. That'S not too much! So really it's more of a first impression and not accurate to think that they're heavy, a little more than a pound is not bad for trail runners. So that's actually a pretty good thing now

Oboz Sawtooth II Low; First Look and Review

 Outside in snowy and icy Indiana can be treacherous to maneuver and I purchased these shoes for that reason. Like others have mentioned, there is no break-in period, your feet are completely dry, the tread is great on snow and ice and they are incredibly comfortable. I know I can wear these if I ever go hiking, but I can also wear these to work. They are pricey, but you really do get what you pay for

Oboz Women's Sawtooth II Low Waterproof

 I didn't find that to be the case. Granted, I tried these on right after I completed a long hike, and my feet were a bit swollen, but that should have been the perfect time to see how they fit. I normally wear a size 10 street shoe, but always size up to 11 for hiking and running shoes. I found these to bit narrow and a bit short

 If these were available in 11W, I may have kept them. But as it is, I'll just have to keep looking for the hiker to fit my duck feet.

Not as wide as I'd hoped.

 It'S it's a great experience and i highly recommend these shoes. Okay, so the uppers, the uppers, has a mesh here with this kind of suede or nubuck leather straps on the side right. So these are shoes that could work in hot weather, hiking. There'S a lot of material here and we'll talk about that in a minute

 So the other thing that i tested all these shoes on was for protection underfoot. The oboz came in right after the keen target 3 vents, and so i think any hiking shoe. That'S got more of a boot dna to it. They'Re going to just provide more protection because there's just more material down here, the the the more minimalist uh hiking shoes, the way that they overcome this is that they have like a protection plate in there like a hard plastic plate, that'll that'll, protect you from uh Rocks hitting your um coming up through and and, and you know, hitting your foot uh like would happen with like a running shoe if you're running on trail and you stepped on a sharp rock while you're running, you could really injure the bottom of your foot

 My foot, and probably yours too okay, so that is my review of the oboz sawtooth 2 hiking shoe all right.  There was a little bit of break-in time in these. I don't suggest, buying these and then going on a trip the next day, um. What i experienced was here at the tongue and kind of on the edge it took a while for my foot to get used to that and kind of break down the rigidity of that. But man once they're broken in which maybe took you know

A well supporting shoe for hiking and walking

Great tread, lots of support inside, very sturdy well made shoes - use them for everything not just hiking - they are my work out shoes and seem to be great - I switched from Salomon shoes to these.. a little pricey but they should last a long time.

 While these shoes look great, these are rebranded Merrells, which always run narrow and never seem to fit my feet well. The insoles are also hard with little padding, although you can replace these. I had worn them on a few hikes, but with Eddie Bauer's guarantee policy I was able to return them for a refund. Not saying these won't work for someone else, but the didn't work for me
