Ryzen 9 3rd gen 3900x, nvidia GeForce rtx 3080, x2 8gb ddr4, 1 tb ssd. It’s a sky tech prebuilt. I’m used to playing an Xbox series X so I’ve gotten spoiled by being able to play 60fps on most games.
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
Trying to install Mint on dual boot custom PC with 2020 parts. Only works when booting from live USB.
Am not AMD user (I have Intel CPU and nvidia GPU in my desktop), and my system is somewhat older (2017, Gigabyte X299 UD4 Pro, Kingston 64GB Ram, GeForce GTX 1050 Ti/PCIe/SSE2), and is dual boot (win10 + Linux Mint, was 18 when desktop was new, today is LM 20.1), but I as well had several attempts back then, and it all boiled down how OSes (Win and Linux) mixed up boot.... ultimately, I had to DISABLE all "legacy" boot things and secure boot, and made my Motherboard EFI only, and from that point on, Windows and Linux did behave well. For example, I have 2 daisy chained monitors (mDP + MST) as well, and I noticed that in "legacy" or "efi" bios boot modes they behaved completely different.... (in legacy 2nd monitor did not wake up only at the point when OS did start and pinged it, in EFI mode both monitor did wake up immediately and were mirrored until OS booted up, and set up two screens). And so on. Basically, try your setup re motherboard to make as conservative as possible, AND go for 100% EFI mode (disable if possibly any "legacy" support, that just makes installers confused).

Anandtech: "Intel's Chief Revenue Officer: We have Silicon, but Shortages in Wi-Fi, Substrates, Panels"
Puts into perspective about SoCs being more cost & time efficient than having separate dedicate chips like a discreet graphics that could end up being stock out. I look forward to the day that AMD & Intel following Apple's lead in designing SoCs having the best iGPU ever even when the performance only beats out a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and Radeon RX 560 from 2017.

Nvidia RTX 3080 vs 3080 Ti: which GPU is best?
Similarly, in the case of Cyberpunk 2077, it was the RTX 3080 that was once again the faster card, not the RTX 3080 Ti. However, the difference you're getting versus the RTX 3070 is much starker, in many cases boosting performance by around 20fps.

Impressive Budget Gaming Experience - GTX 1050 Ti Review
The 1050 Ti performed quite well for a card targeted squarely at the lower middle end of the market. It managed frame rates in the low 40s on very high presets, while bumping things down to hi delivers a buttery smooth experience at 71 frames per second moving on to rise of the Tomb Raider.
