I highly recommend people avoid supporting a company with such abysmal practices and to go with a better VPN instead of a VPN that "just popular".

I contacted support and requested a refund to which I was decline. The support representative submitted a ticket in which I got a response denying my refund. I stated I no longer want their service and that the charge is for a service that hasn't begun yet, and still hasn't. They functionally stole my money for a service that hasn't even started yet and refuse to return the money that they stole

NordVPN is a fraud

It's very weird - I have a Raspberry Pi as a NordVPN Gateway and rebuilt it multiple times.  

OpenVPN as a protocol seemed to work fine, but of course it's nowhere near as fast as NordLynx.  

I contacted Nord support (and have to say they were pretty good). As mentioned, in the end I resigned myself to using Ireland (which worked) or OpenVPN and by some stroke of luck after testing every day for a few weeks eventually an update was released and it seems to be fixed at my end.  

. New Servers had to be provided at a rate of new servers each 2 days and in June new servers would be implemented and most of them would not connect already/be blocked.

2020 started bad, even via OpenVPN, but thanks to CoVID and people here being more worried about the virus and is effects, VPN blocks were mostly a non-problem, who made it the best year I had. Although during that year the official app was broken not connecting anytime.

My requests are simple: Provide a solution that or uses the methods already implemented in any OS (via a VPN config directly on the OS implementation) or if impossible the use of open source apps as OpenVPN and StrongSwan. Not anymore close source stuff that no one can audit and don't know what really does or fix what you already have and reply to requests of support instead of an automated system that does jack sh#t. And less money spent on marketing.

If you can't provide at least a little of that, then the renewal will stay deactivated until the end of the contract, with an email been sent after that to totally delete my login info from your servers, per European Union Law (being an EU citizen have some advantages) while I will search for someone who provides what I need in the way I need.

Come on Nord, get your sh#t together...

In my opinion NordVPN's approach is much safer as it prevents the accidental "I disconnected and forgot to reconnect before launching a website and outing my IP scenario"

Does anyone feel the same?  Also for the proton folks here is there any plan to implement a full lockdown mode like Nords?

* Speed was *really* good. Even connecting to countries far from my own. I barely noticed any change.

* I have never, ever, used any app/program that I have needed to babysit as much as NordVPN. Almost on a daily basis, I need to go in and reconnect it, both on my phone and desktop. It either ignores my settings for autoconnect, or forces me to connect to my native country's servers, despite me setting it to connect automatically to another one.

* No notifcations that you are disconnected when it randomly decides to turn itself off. You can be browsing for hours before you notice the logo has greyed out meaning it's not working.

I bought a Nord VPN subscription a couple of years back. Due to me not paying attention on the sign-up page, I accidentally bought a multi-year subscription up front and paid for it all. So I've been stuck with it for some time now. I've had plenty of time to use it in and out

I've been using NordVPN since around Christmas and I've been using it 100% of the time for all of my desktop computers. I got tired of my ISP snooping on me and sending nastygrams in the mail, so I wanted a solution that would prevent them from seeing anything at all.

Maybe this is the way every public VPN works, but as far as my experience goes, it makes having internet privacy a full time job, and it's simply not worth it. If your service doesn't work with the biggest internet-connected players, your service doesn't work. We have a lot to be concerned. Former Malware Distributor Kape Technologies now owns ExpressVPN, CyberGhost, Private Internet Access, Zenmate, and a Collection of VPN “Review” Websites.

Been trying out various VPN's lately, all single month, just to see which i like. ExpressVPN was my latest go. Overall service wasnt bad, price is higher then the rest but Nord wasnt working for me so Express VPN was next on the list.

Setting up was easy but I had to switch the protocol to OpenVPN manually. None of the others would work- possibly due to being blocked by my isp but word is still out on that.

Even with OpenVPN protocol torrents were slow at times. Id say it was hitting about 30-50%  speed vs VPN deactivated. App was ok, not as good as NORD but that had problems too. Running MacOS. One big gripe with their app was the fact it has no uninstaller for Mac. You have to manually go around finding system files and deleting them one by one- big pain. Also my networked PC would not see my mac via private network when ExpressVPN was installed.

I used it for a month and was overall somewhat pleased with the performance.

The real problem was the deceitful business practices on behalf of ExpressVPN.

Every time i sign up for a new VPN i hunt out and disable automatic renewal. I know how these guys make money and i make it my point to avoid these pesky problems. I also read a complaint on here about someone being automatically billed on ExpressVPN even after they disabled auto-renewal.

So i guess i wasnt surprised when i saw my credit card charged again at the end of the month, even after i disabled auto-renewal. I had a few choice words with their CS team but i shouldn't have to. How they think they can operate a business this way is beyond me.

How can you trust a company with your sensitive private information when they lie and cheat their way into your wallet? Im not surprised i had this problem and i probably wont be the only one. Wont be using them again, i suggest others not using them either until they become a bit more trustworthy.
