Nikon D3500 vs Nikon Z6

Moving to ISO 12800 we see noise tick up above 1.5 percent, and we also see details drop precipitiously. You can set the camera as high as ISO 25600, but I wouldn't recommend it when shooting in JPG format—images are blurry and show very little fine detail.

color and WB accuracy, sharpness, and video are all unbelievably fantastic! For now, I'll keep both the d800 and the z6 to enjoy them both. :)

Unfortunately, its autofocus system is very basic, with only 11 detection points. It's not especially reliable when it comes to face or object tracking. Also, it isn't the best option if you're interested in recording video since it can't record in 4k, and its FHD video quality is mediocre overall. Despite that, it's still one of the best cameras to start photography with, and most beginners will be happy with it

The Fuji xt-3 was pretty noisy compared to the other cameras when used according to real life settings ( one stop higher than the other cameras). And the Z6 against all the crop sensor cameras was amazingly clean! The Z6's sensor is amazing, it is much better at high ISO than the d750 which is only a third stop better than the d500 at high ISO. ( I own the d750 as well and only use it as a backup to the d500). I decided to go with the Z6 after watching Jared Polin and Max Yuryev's videos comparing autofocus of the Z6 against the a7iii, Canon R and xt-3

Get the Canon if you want 4k video capability and a fully articulated touchscreen, but if you're new to DSLRs, the Nikon is a great alternative budget option.

it sucked lol. Using a D3500 with a nikon 17-55 2.8 lens. I couldnt auto-focus on anything because it was so dark, and the lens wasnt letting me manually focus! I switched it to M instead of MA on the lens but when I was spinning the dial it wasn't focusing, I was trying to make it infinty focus

I paid $2000 for them in 2019 (refurbished from B&HPhoto, so you should be able to find a good deal. The Z lenses are not cheap new compared to F-Mount, but they have a good aftermarket, and their quality is superb across the range.

To be honest, the only reason why I bought this was because all modern digital cameras lack the manual control functionalities of the camera. Nowadays, everything is "automatically" managed by the computer within the camera which, in most cases, ruins the pictures. I am so glad that I made the switch to this camera! It does everything that my other cameras does not do! It allows me to manually adjust the focus, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, and so much more! I will admit that the camera can be a bit "much" to those who are new to the DSLR universe, but I will say that after you play with the camera for a while, you will know all of the menus, options and their locations like a pro! What I love about this camera is that you have the ability to switch out the stock lens for a macro lens (those insane close up photos) or for a telephoto lens (for those far distant pictures) if you choose! For me, personally, the stock lens does more than enough, but if I have the urge to buy one of the other lenses, I can do that because the camera is made for expand-ability! Contrary to what others may say, personally, I believe that the JPEG images are super clean and crisp. While you are not supposed to use JPEGs for post-production, I believe you can get away with some minor post with these files

I haven't dived into video modes, but all the other reviews say this is an extremely capable video camera. In-body vibration reduction (called IBIS - in body image stabilization) is another game changer on older lenses that lack this feature. Focus peaking (courtesy of the electronic view finder) means use of older, manual focus lenses is quite easy! Between IBIS and focus peaking, those older Nikon telephotos are starting to look like a real bargain. Mirrorless really is a game changer, and Nikon's first full-frame versions are an outstanding advance

My biggest issue with Canon cameras was the poor battery performance. I used to lug around three spare batteries to feed be beast with Canons. With this camera I can shoot all weekend with one charge. I must also mentioned that the the great deal Amazon gave me on this camera on the Black Friday deal

Cons: Poor battery life, solid, but lower end controls, feels more delicate and heavier than expected. Conclusion: If Nikon upgraded the D850 to an EVF I'd sell my soul for it. Can't wait to see what semi pro - pro Nikon mirrorless bodies will come in the future. But, these cameras will slow down Nikon users from converting to Sony
