I used to have a cheap espresso machine and I still have a basic cuisinart burr grinder, but the espresso machine died and I was gifted around 500 nespresso pods, so I bought the pixie and have been using it since. I mostly make iced lattes and with the nespresso pods, that means 2 pods per cup which is maybe about a triple shot. and we make between 2 and 8 cups a day between my wife and I and other people that stop out.

I’ve been using my nespresso pixie for the past 3 years and although it’s convenient, all the pods tasted more or less the same to me now, it’s getting boring and expensive. I’d love to get a proper entry level set up and would love some set recommendations for something within the $500 - $1.5k range. I was looking at the breville barista touch but it has mixed reviews

 It's called the Pixie and it's by Nespresso. Super awesome machine. Let's dive in, show you what it can do, and of course, brew some espresso. All right guys, so first off, the Pixie, I have to say, really lives up to its name

 I mean, look at how small it is. This is something I love about this machine is how small it is. Takes up literally almost no room on your countertop, yet it really does a great job at brewing some awesome, awesome espresso. It's got a water tank mounted at the back of it

 And of course, everyone wonders about the warranty on the Nespresso Pixie. There's a standard one-year factory warranty. So if you have any problems with a one-year buying the unit, you're covered and you know that you can use this machine with peace of mind as you get to know it in your at-home coffee shop. Folks wonder if they can purchase capsules for making espresso with their Nespresso Pixie made by other coffee roasters

 Today I'm going to be giving you a quick overview of one of my favorite single serve coffee

 In this case, it's a single serve espresso making machine.

 It's called the Pixie and it's by Nespresso.

 Let's dive in, show you what it can do, and of course, brew some espresso.

 All right guys, so first off, the Pixie, I have to say, really lives up to its name.

 This is something I love about this machine is how small it is.

 Takes up literally almost no room on your countertop, yet it really does a great job

 at brewing some awesome, awesome espresso.

 It's got a water tank mounted at the back of it.

 This water tank will keep a bunch of water ready for you to brew that espresso.

 There's not a filter in this tank so you probably want to use filtered water with your Nespresso

 Very, very easy to set up, however, just fill that tank up.

 After that, the machine is very straightforward.

 On the top, we've got our two brew sizes.

 We have a single shot and a double shot, a double shot being a LUMGO.

 One thing that's very much worth mentioning on this machine is that it has a 19 bar pressure

 19 bar is actually well above the required standard for an espresso machine to be able

 So this machine actually meets and exceeds the amount of pressure that it is supposed

 to have to do a proper shot of espresso.

 It's something I really like about this machine.

 It's definitely not underdone and despite its size, it can really kick out a great shot.

 We have a tray here on the bottom which can be folded up if we have a larger tumbler that

 we're going to make use of and attached to that tray is our receptacle which is going

 to catch our used pods which we use for making espresso.

 Now these Nespresso capsules are proprietary.

 You can only get these from Nespresso at this time.

 So there are 16 different types of Nespresso pods, all of which vary in the strength and

 So you can get varied packs in order to try them all out and then you can buy a pack of

 one blend when you find that one that you really, really like.

 Real easy to brew one of these Nespresso capsules.

 You notice that opening the machine is done via this handle right here in the front of

 Now as it folds out, the brew chamber is available to me and I'll show you from the side right

 Kind of loads like a shotgun which I think is kind of cool.

 So let's go ahead and brew some espresso.

 I'm going to first off do just a single shot of espresso.

 So I'm going to use this Indira capsule right here.

 Again there are a number of different types of capsules which you have access to with

 But as I say, you can only use Nespresso capsules with the Pixi so keep that in mind.

 So now I'm going to go ahead and close up the unit and now it's going to be ready to

 So I'm going to use my nice double walled espresso cup right here, place this right

 underneath and now I just need to choose the single shot brew option.

 You can hear that pressure pump doing its job but this is literally not as loud as the
