If this conformed to carry-on size limits, you can be sure they'd say that, and loudly. They don't. As others have said, given the proportions it's almost certainly taller than the rules allow -- perhaps by as much as 5-7 cm.

It's just small enough that I would struggle to use it for anything other than a weekend airline trip or a casual day-pack around the city. Your millage may vary!

The pack is unable to stay tight to the frame. The biggest annoyance with this is that you CANNOT access anything in the pack without loosening up multiple side straps. If Mystery Ranch would simply make points of contact to keep the back of the bag itself attached to the frame independently of the compression straps this bag would be untouchable! But since you can't secure it to the frame it's hard to get the load to distribute as it should on your body. I really really really want to like this pack but I'll most likely just sell if after this season

The options for adjustments are perfect allowing me to get a great fit and seated perfectly along my back and shoulders, I hate packs that hang low because that unsettling center of gravity gets tiring after a while. On the other hand it is easy to adjust the straps on the move which is nice because if anyone has ever worn a pack for an extended period of time, then you know how nice it is to loosen, tighten, and switch to sling mode here and there to help free up spots on your back that get too hot over time because even with breathable material like that present on this pack, the bottom line is that there is still weight pushing material along your back and you will still get hot depending on how long you wear the pack. The primary harnesses are thick and comfortable, even when I loaded the pack for weight I didn't feel anything digging into my shoulders. I'm used to seeing red marks on my shoulders with other packs and this comfort is something I'm not used to

Two water bottle pockets on the sides will carry your 32 oz bottles. Well paddled shoulder straps allow for all day comfort. I’m very happy with pack for day trips, commuting, and travel!

I have been using the 2DayAssault for about 60 days straight. My biggest criteria for purchasing this bag was the rear pocket zipper for the laptop. I’m a graphic designer, so I’m always carrying my 17” apple laptop and lots of additional tech/wires/charger etc. Additionally I’m a gamer, so I always carry my controller and my 13” Razer gaming laptop. So I’m able to carry two laptops(!), and a plethora of other things. The laptop sleeve holds a surface laptop with room to spare, but it goes to the bottom of the bag so be careful if setting down your bag hard. There is not much padding on the bottom to protect it. There are 3 main pockets with the large drawstring open main storage, zippered front pocket, and zippered lid pocket. Ample space for a 20L bag

It's not so small that I can't fit anything I need, but isn't cumbersome to pack along. The buckles and materials are sturdy and work great; the material is stiff at first but now that I've used it a bit, it's starting to wear in (there's a cinch under the buckle flap and it took a few times to get that to cinch just a little faster than when it's brand new). I really like the smaller zipper pouches on the top of the flap and on the bottom of the front- it is perfect cell phone or snack sized. I can even put a water bottle or two in the side pockets! The only limitation I have for commuting sake is that my square lunch box doesn't fit in perfectly (if I had something that needed to be placed upright to prevent doing it wouldn't be able to do that), however, if I had more of an upright lunchbox, this wouldn't be a problem
