To go into further detail, the blade on this hatchet is ground at much too aggressive of an angle, meaning that it doesn't bite into the wood at all, it just kind of bounces out of the cut. Furthering that problem, the head is way too thick to get a less aggressive grind on it without removing a ton of material. Another problem is that it's way too heavy, making it feel overly clumsy in the hand, and that's only exacerbated by the fact that it's bent just ever so slightly, so your cuts will almost never land how you want them too

It came sharp but the first thing I did was polish the grind marks out of the bevels and get it razor sharp. Time will tell how it deals with corrosion, but for now it is a total winner and good value at $90.

The price was cheap enough so if I lose it or have to throw it away, no great loss. It's light weight and the cover is nice enough. Durability.

What this knife lacks in frills, it delivers with solid, reliable performance. The blade style is somewhere between a sheepsfoot and a wharncliffe, providing great cutting performance. The slight downcurve at the tip gives an adequate piercing ability while still allowing the blade tip of the knife to be used without risking poking underlying surfaces. For a first responder cutting away loose clothing to triage an injury, this definitely has advantages
