 So the pack has a day-pack included that attaches inside the pack for ease of use and it has a clip inside to attach your bladder inside the day-pack. This is all and good however I don't really plan on using the day-pack and that bladder clip is the only one in the pack. So if you remove the day-pack you lose your mounting point. I found an easy fix that being some Velcro tape stuck together fed through an exposed portion of the metal frame at the top of the inside of the pack that allows me to hold a bladder in place (A zip-tie worked as well but is much less practical)

 So far I can only give initial impressions as my only real use thus far was a 3 mile overnight trip to the upper twin lake on Mt.Hood about a 3 mile hike. It performed pretty well for that but I still yet to put it though some more punishing things like get caught in a rainstorm to truly test how well it holds up in more undesirable circumstances. The sizing is a touch big but that was to be expected as I'm very thin but with a broad build making sizing of clothes and packs a little more challenging

My first real backpacking pack and its almost perfect

Ordered mine on sale in late spring, taken it on a handful of 10+ mile out & backs and a 20 mile summit so far, overall I’d say really great bag i’d expect nothing less from mountain hardwear. Excels in comfort, ventilation, and overall layout in my opinion compared to similar options from Osprey & REI brand bags, although a bit more spendy. The fit was pretty true to size, I have a 19” torso and 32” waist and the S/M fits me great. The sliding lumbar support really sells it for me, keeps the pack considerably more balanced and stable especially on more technical terrain

 The pack has held up well enough in both the rocky high desert as well as alpine bristlecone forests over my first season with it. The detachable day pack turned out to be a lot more useful than I originally expected when I ordered this pack, Great for small day hikes or dropping your main pack at camp to summit with the daypack. Daypack is pretty comfortable with a 3L bladder although a chest strap would be nice. Biggest gripe I’ve seen about the bag is the front mesh pocket, it hasn’t been a tear concern for me personally even in pretty thick brush, and I hardly use it for anything but wrappers anyway so rain getting the contents wet is not a concern for me either

There'S a ventilated, supportive back system that has load lifter, straps and a hip belt to take the weight off your shoulders and stabilize the load [ Music ]. There'S an adjustable sternum strap with a safety whistle

This is the Osprey Metron commuter bike pack, it's designed specifically for bike commuting because it has a shoe pocket, a helmet loop and a pocket for your laptop all, while sitting comfortably on your back and looking sleek the whole ride. Let'S take a closer look. A lot of commuter packs I see out there have the pockets and the features bikers need, but they don't always have comfortable supportive straps.  I have to say, however, that the pockets on the shoulder straps are very irritating. One is supposed to carry keys on a retractable lanyard, the other your mobile phone/ipod. Good idea, but they are mounted so high that when you carry the pack over one shoulder, you have one of these pockets sticking in to the underside of your neck. Only when you mount the bag with all straps, including the chest strap in place do they sit away from your face

 Now we can close that up and then yeah you're left with the main compartment. So i just have some. You know items to keep warm in here in case i'm going somewhere colder and yeah that rain jacket kind of juts into the bottom. Here, a little bit you can see, but other than that, just basically a pretty much just a big compartment laptop compartment is the back, which i really appreciate on the osprey farpoint, it's kind of in the front and just a little bit weird, at least on the Version we had tested a while back

 So it's got this kind of circular softer material as well. On the front there pretty ample space, so it's about this size in the front. I usually put my edc wallet edc items in there that i take out of my pockets while i'm biking so keys phone wallet. All that goes in here, while i'm biking and then for things that i access less frequently i like to put into this pouch or this pocket on the front here

 I just didn't really use it much. One of my favorite sternum strap designs is here it's just kind of on this rail. I like it, because you can just dial it into exactly where you need it relatively quickly and depending on what you have inside, you might have this position a little bit differently. So that's really easy built-in whistle up here at the top

 Those just kind of flap out in the wind, along with yeah these adjuster straps, and then you don't have them on the hip belt. Either. It'S not really a hip belt, more of like a waist belt. I guess because it doesn't hold any weight, but that's one thing: maybe if i was gon na make a recommendation to osprey, i mean this is a biking, bag and you're, usually like flying down the street

Osprey METRON Review (2 Weeks of Use)

Be warned though, that this is only meant to carry a 13" laptop. I have a 15" and can barely get it in but the Velcro flap that is supposed to fold over the laptop compartment isn't long enough to fold over mine to anchor it down. Granted if the backpack was any taller it would block my view over my shoulder to see traffic so I understand why they made it this way.

 Even just picking up the the the backpack, just this handle feels quality. The zippers are Ykk zippers. Very easy to actuate. Really nice quality with finger hooks

 And the Metron also has a really good weight distribution, so it's got these comfortable straps. It's got the sternum strap, it's got a waist strap. The sternum strap is also fully adjustable in height so you can bring it down, bring it up so you can find the perfect fit. So even I found it that even if I had it fully loaded, it's It has a good weight distribution, which is really nice, especially when you're on the bike

Bought this pack for an upcoming surf trip to Fiji where I need a medium size day pack to serve as my luggage since I'm not really bringing much. Never owned an Osprey bag before, but my Pops always goes top of the line and he has one so I followed suit. Opened the box and first impression was a very good looking and high quality bag. No cutting corners here, all the zippers slide very smoothly, stitching is tight and no ravels, you can tell the makers care about the product and don't skimp on the details to save a few bucks
