 So the pack has a day-pack included that attaches inside the pack for ease of use and it has a clip inside to attach your bladder inside the day-pack. This is all and good however I don't really plan on using the day-pack and that bladder clip is the only one in the pack. So if you remove the day-pack you lose your mounting point. I found an easy fix that being some Velcro tape stuck together fed through an exposed portion of the metal frame at the top of the inside of the pack that allows me to hold a bladder in place (A zip-tie worked as well but is much less practical)

 So far I can only give initial impressions as my only real use thus far was a 3 mile overnight trip to the upper twin lake on Mt.Hood about a 3 mile hike. It performed pretty well for that but I still yet to put it though some more punishing things like get caught in a rainstorm to truly test how well it holds up in more undesirable circumstances. The sizing is a touch big but that was to be expected as I'm very thin but with a broad build making sizing of clothes and packs a little more challenging

My first real backpacking pack and its almost perfect

Ordered mine on sale in late spring, taken it on a handful of 10+ mile out & backs and a 20 mile summit so far, overall I’d say really great bag i’d expect nothing less from mountain hardwear. Excels in comfort, ventilation, and overall layout in my opinion compared to similar options from Osprey & REI brand bags, although a bit more spendy. The fit was pretty true to size, I have a 19” torso and 32” waist and the S/M fits me great. The sliding lumbar support really sells it for me, keeps the pack considerably more balanced and stable especially on more technical terrain

 The pack has held up well enough in both the rocky high desert as well as alpine bristlecone forests over my first season with it. The detachable day pack turned out to be a lot more useful than I originally expected when I ordered this pack, Great for small day hikes or dropping your main pack at camp to summit with the daypack. Daypack is pretty comfortable with a 3L bladder although a chest strap would be nice. Biggest gripe I’ve seen about the bag is the front mesh pocket, it hasn’t been a tear concern for me personally even in pretty thick brush, and I hardly use it for anything but wrappers anyway so rain getting the contents wet is not a concern for me either

 If this is fully expanded, this will stand on its own. That is to me actually a pretty big selling point. now. the dimensions are being run in for you and as they are, this is made out of 500 denier cordura fabric Ykk zippers throughout and just really, really well built

 Okay, so here are our two main compartments that you can access kind of from the top of the bag. heavy duty water resistant Ykk zippers. It's actually kind of spitting on us right now, so I mean it's I'm not worried about my electronics in here with the way that this is built.  I just wanted to double up my investment you know here, so I can easily do that. I'm rocking that instead of the you have the secondary padded sleeve right here. very similar size designed to carry a 15-inch laptop. Very, very well built

 The only weak link for me is the shoulder strap. It works fine, but lacks padding and could be a bit wider for better grip and stability. I commute on a motorcycle and usually strap the bag to the bike rather than wear it, but the times I've thrown it over my shoulder on the bike, the bag has a tendency to wander, especially when heavily loaded or when maneuvering around a bit. I'm comparing the stability with my old Chrome Messenger, which I love for waterproofness and comfort, but lacks the briefcase utility I now need

 The quality is outstanding, really bomb-proof. It feels good in the hand - material, zippers, and my favorite feature - the magnetic clip fastener on the front flap.  This should be able to hold up to a 15 inch laptop. Currently, what I have in here is my 13-inch MacBook Pro, but you can see there's a little bit of leftover space, anything larger than a 15-inch, I don't think, is gon na fit and even a larger 15 inch laptop feels like it could be a bit of A tight fit the sleeve does come up a fair amount. Oh, if you have a little bit of a thicker device, it should be able to fit in here, okay and so pulling a laptop out now with the compartment empty, you can get a better feel for the amount of space no sort of felt lining on the Inside to help prevent against scratching, but still just a really nice amount of protection, I liked it the compartment is suspended and then one of my favorite things about using this as a shoulder bag and briefcase has been being able to access the laptop so easily. It'S very easy to just reach down and grab it when I need to get to it quickly, while going through TSA or something like that, so just a really great job overall, with the layout of this compartment in the amount of protection that it offers

 Currently, what I have in here is my iPad Mini 2 and that fit in there very easily. As for the sleeve itself, it's not padded or elevated, so it's not really gon na offer a lot of protection, but it is nice to have a specific spot to make it very easy to just reach down and grab your tablet when you need it, and now, With the main compartment empty, I did want to expand this out to show you how much I can fit if I open this zipper up for the extra five liters of capacity, and so the zipper goes all the way around comes up a nice amount and what I would typically place in here is something alight to be larger, double-sided compressible, packing cube for Marketo that I've mentioned in a few of my recent videos and that fits in here really comfortably once it's expanded out and then with the packing cube inside. I still have plenty of leftover space if I wanted to still use this to organize my smaller accessories or to play something like an additional pair of shoes, or maybe my Dopp kit, so overall, just a really nice amount of space in organization. In this main compartment and then having the ability to expand this out for a little bit of extra capacity is a really nice bonus

 They have a mention material to help prevent moisture from building up. They also have a nice width for the size of the bag to prevent them from digging into your shoulders. Even when it's fully packed out, there is no sternum strap included on the straps, but I think that's ok, considering the size of the bag and because you may be putting the straps away regularly. The sternum strap would probably make the whole process a little bit more complex, moving out of the backpedaling

 We'Ve looked at recently. It was very comfortable, durable and had a really nice, simple layout and look, and so I was very excited when the company reached out to see if I would be interested in testing out the 3-way briefcase and I've been using it for the past couple of weeks And so far it's been a really great experience. The bag has been very durable. It has some really great organizational options

At least some of the inside pockets should have flaps/zippers for keeping things contained when the bag is in backpack orientation. 

The strap isn't padded, which for a narrow strap on a bag primarily designed to be carried over the shoulder is a flaw.

 You've got these here, you can pull these out, there's another one, and then at the bottom you can tug this out and this out and it converts it to a backpack. and this back panel on the bag is is padded as well. And that's padded because this back section here one-handed. This back section is where you put your laptop

 I would rather have the laptop protected I will also say and this is the last thing. so I'm trying to keep this from not being 20-minute review: Is these look like a really good idea? but when I walk with this thing on my back, these friggin things squeak. The whole bag moves a little bit and that's because they're loaded or what, or the way I walk or what I don't know if it's this interface or if it's like this pivot interface up here, or whatever it is, they squeak and it's just enough to be annoying. and I have not figured out how to make it

 Waterproof Zippers: Double-sided opening, pal pal. You got a middle compartment on this bag. Again, waterproof zipper here. and this is sort of like your main bulk storage

 I'm going to maybe do a comparison video of the two of them, but it just doesn't have a lot of space in it. So if you've got like a really thick 15-inch laptop, or even a 17-inch laptop, there's no way you're going to be able to fit it into the peak design. Whereas this, on the other hand, not only does it have ample amounts of storage, I think it actually looks pretty damn badass. It's built well and you can fit a bigger laptop in it, and it's got a couple of other tricks up its sleeve

 It's like for security purposes, but you've got the zippers. and you've got the little magnetic clasp. By the way, that magnetic clasp is badass, right? It just. you just sort of falls into place

 You've even got the teeth right here. But the zippers. They don't go. They don't go further than this

 Basically, it's it looks like this, but it's not this. And the problem is though, is it doesn't really hold a lot of space. The bag carries well and stands on its own with a laptop and accessories inside. It’s pretty roomy WITHOUT expanding it, though that’s a nice option.

  But it definitely rose to the occasion when I found myself on an unplanned hike and needed a backpack.  The magnetic latch on the front pouch works great and the zippers pull open with ease, making this a great bag for anyone looking for concealed carry options.  Overall, the bag does exactly what it is intended to do and the quality is great, especially for the price point.
