Morakniv Companion. An edge that could cut someone's soul in two, combined with a blade you could pry doors open with, all for $20.

Great knife, except it just falls out of it sheath. And after weeks of this happening it finally fell out and i didnt feel it. So now its gone. Was a good fit and sharp durable, just sheath was no good and now a waste of money because now its gone!

Until I really give this knife a few months worth of work, the only stainless steels I would rate better would likely be CPM 154 and CPM SV30, respectively. However, those two steels usually carry a far higher pricetag than this Sandvik blade. My priorities are towards concealeable fixed blades. I highly prefer belt carry knifes as while i exchange pants and thus pocket sizes and arrangements regulary (office jeans at work, cargos in my free time, bike pants on the bike), my belt always gonna be my belt and on every pant, be it summer, winter, walking or riding my motorbike.

It has a Rockwell hardness of 59-61 RC making it one of the hardest knife steels found today. The alloy is a high chromium-molybdenum-vanadium mix that's fused together using the latest particle metallurgy process which virtually eliminates the presence of carbides in the alloy which make the steel prone to chipping. This material provides what is arguably the best combination of edge retention, corrosion resistance, hardness (RC scale), wear resistance and ease of sharpening available today. A big knife might seem like it's better but they are usually less practical when it comes to fine carving tasks and are heavy on your belt or in your bag. If you look at people who actually spend a lot of time in the bush most of them are carrying knives that have a blade length of between 4-7in and a hatchet for chopping wood. If you need to cut through dense brush you can get a Cold Steel machete for around $20 as well. If you already have a Mora Companion I'd say just try to save up some more money and look at knives in the $50-$100 range

Through many others, I finally have been using the CRKT minimalist and actually just ordered a SpyderCo LadyBug (supposed to be about 15 g). I don’t think I’ll ever be someone who ditches a knife completely or goes the razor blade route, but I’ve definitely shaved a lot of weight over the years. Small steps down definitely helped, as I don’t think I would’ve even considered such a tiny knife even 3 years ago. Especially for smaller items, I think it helps to gradually cut down instead of just going cold turkey

I have batoned it through firewood with nary an issue. Just don’t try to use it as a crowbar.

Here lately, I’ve been sitting on the porch in the evenin working on making little feather sticks with it for lighting fire with. I have to say it does indeed work pretty well for that. Maybe I’ll take this little cleaver with me the next time I go deer hunting out in West Texas and see how she holds up in a camping sort of situation. I have to be completely honest here though

Sheath knives are simple, generally sturdy, and a very large variety of shapes and lengths. Over many years I have found something inexpensive but well made like a Morakniv Companion handles most knife jobs except heavy duty work like prying and chopping. For something more stout a full tang knife of 4”-5” is very capable and still a handy size. You don’t need fancy steels

The sheath adds so much value to the product and I am already looking for my next variant to get. I would recommend this to anyone that in the market currently.

The handle is a perfect size both men and women, and it has a comfortable, non-slip rubber coating. It comes shaving-sharp out of the package and holds an edge very well. The length is perfect for general outdoor use such as camping, hiking, fishing, boating, biking, etc. You can process large game, fish, birds, or most anything else in North America

The outer layer of the handle is so thin that it is worn through in multiple spots straight from the seller. It gives the handle of the knife a very shop-worn appearance right out of the box. It makes it look like someone has used the handle portion of the knife for a long time.
