Suction

C3 Kona Canister Vacuum & Temperamental Powerbrush

You have to forcefully DRAG it backwards (for the forward/backward motion of vacuuming). Miele Engineers - You obviously have NOT tried to vacuum carpets in your own home with this. PLEASE REDESIGN - you are making people suffer!!! If possible (which most of the options I've seen do not provide you with this), I would definitely recommend the C3 Kona Canister Vacuum itself, together with the Electrical Wand, but NOT this powerbrush - there is a much lighter version of the electrical powerbrush available (and it costs less).

Handle keeps disconnecting!

This little vacuum cleaner has great suction for hard floors and gets up hair, cat fur and cat litter. It is light weight. I don't use it on carpet. The handle and wand connection is non-existent! There is no latch to keep the handle in

The cons are The power cord is very short so you find yourself unplugging and replugging the vacuum way too often. The hose is also short and made of a stiff plastic which gets in the way of being able to maneuver easily. Attachment quality is poor and other kenmore attachments do not fit. Overall, I think this would be good for a camper or small apartment and not relied on as a primary vacuum for the whole house

Okay Unit, Poor Accessories

This could have easily been avoided by making the belt guide housing out of plastic that's thicker than a rubber band. I could 3D print a plastic piece a million times stronger than what's in it and fix the problem, if I had a 3D printer and the knowledge on how to use it. But I don't, so the turbine unit is broken because the suction of the vacuum crushed the flimsy belt guide. Completely unacceptable

Cleaning Performance

Powerful vacuum; but testy powerbrush

The ergonomic handle with the switch on it is great. Finally, the interior where the bags sits stays super clean, and I love not having to touch the nastiness you vacuum up like you have to with a non-bagged unit like a Dyson. Who would want to do that? Gross. Overall I am glad I purchased

Tile floors, it will pull up hair and dirt, but it still leaves some behind pretty regularly and I have to go over spots several times to get all hair and occasional bits of cereal or snacks off the floor (life with a toddler and dogs). All in all, I think this would be ok for occasional light cleaning on hard surface floors only or very low pile rugs, but I'd go something with more power if you have pets that shed, carpeting, or vacuum larger areas regularly.

Canadian here!! Any recommendations on upright?

These are German made vacuums designed for long life, good filtration, and easy maintenance. This one's an upright (if you prefer that form factor over a canister), but you can detach the floor head and collapse the handle for portability when cleaning stairs with the hose.

Good vacuum, but...

Also, cleaning out the bagless chamber is a very very dirty job. A better design would help with that as well. Very disappointing because I have used the Kenmore vacuums for a long time, but I think this will be my last one.

Filtration

Exceptionally Quiet and Exhaust Air Is Pure

Coming from a cheap Hoover upright, this thing is so quiet. I can't believe how much quieter this is even with the powerbrush in use. The HEPA filtration is just about perfection. I smell nothing but pure air while I am vacuuming

Nice little vacuum for basic use

There’s also a lever that you slide (side to side) to clean off the filter which is helpful but I’ll see how well that holds up over time. I have a small house with no pets currently and there’s only two of us so it suits my needs

Ease Of Use

We feel that using the vacuum is very easy on your back compared to our experience with upright units. The hose in this model with the pivoting head makes it easy and less burdensome, since you don't have to worry about the hose getting twisted up on you. Switching attachments is also very quick and easy, and the different mechanisms feel like the rest of the unit, well made and durable.

Great Vaccuum for Hard Surface Floors

What prompted me to buy a canister again is our Shark, while a great vacuum, is not the best design for hard surface flooring. I was tired of it falling over instead of remaining upright and its heavy to lift and carry around. This Kenmore works great on hard surface floors and is super easy to empty. I also love the telescoping wand that is so easy on my back and use all the time, not just for hard to reach areas

Filters

Best choice for severe allergies, long hair, and wood/rugs/carpet/various surfaces?

I think a Miele Complete C3 w/ SEB228 or SEB236 powerhead is the allergy champion (when used with the genuine HEPA exhaust filter).
