Not sure if I really got a brand new vacuum

So far it is working okay but I have concerns if this is a brand new product or not. The box was definitely old, unsealed and in bad condition. And the wheels look like they have some wear already.

Henry 160 compact vacume

First impressions are good. Suction is good, pretty compact but not small, cord works well, its heavier then it looks but manageable, useful tools, and price wise I think it's worth it (paid$340 w/tax) although a lower price point would make it a much better buy. Tools friction fit together, hose is long enough and flexible, floortool is good on hardwood but takes more effort on rugs, I think it's relatively quiet with no high pitched whistle, and it rolls around easy. These are just my initial impressions, will update if warranted

Is high pile carpet vacuum strictly better than low pile carpet vacuum?

For majority carpets I recommend a vacuum with a powered brushroll, manual height adjustment, and brushroll shutoff (for when you're using the hose and tools). The Miele C3 Calima is not good for a majority carpeted house.

These are German made vacuums designed for long life, good filtration, and easy maintenance. This one's an upright (if you prefer that form factor over a canister), but you can detach the floor head and collapse the handle for portability when cleaning stairs with the hose.

Which vac do I get?

In that case, I'd say to get a $330 Henry HVR160 with a $45 Wessel Werk TK286 turbine. The UK-made Henry canisters basically trade off the fancy features of the Miele (suction control and cord rewind) for a simpler and more robust design, plus a much better cord and hose length versus a comparably priced Miele. https://www.wayfair

Great vacuum, defective filter

One of the Hepa filters arrived warped and wouldn't be able to seal. I left a message to seller 6 days ago and haven't heard back. Just left another and Amazon's automated response said to give the seller 6 more days. Unreasonable

The Numatic Henry Compact HVR160 would be my suggestion as well, which is a semi-commercial canister made in the UK that's perfectly suited for hard floors and area rugs. They're among the most powerful non-central vacuums out there, so it'll basically be like a significantly less bulky and better filtering version of your shop vac. I think it'd be worth getting an attachment like this that you can easily lift up for large debris as well.

For your floor type and apartment size i’d say the over budget CDN$335 Numatic James or CDN$399 Henry HVR160 are a great buy. Great filtration, reliable, built tough and the face! But the Miele would also be a great option too!

Assuming you're in the U.S., there isn't really much shopping around that can be done with the Complete C3. Miele's cheaper models (Classic C1 & Compact C1) that're available at stores like BB&B get occasional discounts, but Miele seems pretty strict about enforcing a consistent MSRP online for the high end vacuums

Best corded vacuum for pet hair on wood floors?

Miele, Numatic, and SEBO all have great options, but I'll narrow it down. This $300 Numatic Henry Compact is probably the best value canister on the market at the moment. Simple design, commercial-grade construction, and some of the most cost-effective HEPA bags you can buy.
