Suction

Not overly impressed

We’ve had over a year and while nothing has had to be replaced, it doesn’t seem to like Rottweiler hair. There’s always hair still on the floors (LVP and tile). It has good suction when you feel it but it just seem to get all the hair and tends to just push it away no matter what setting I choose. For reference, I do have multiple kids and multiple dogs though

81714, a powerful vacuum

I was able to follow the instructions for putting it together. Overall it seems intuitive to use and has excellent suction, especially on rugs and carpet. The switch for hardwood, carpet and power on the handle work as intended but seem flimsy. It’s easy to hit the carpet setting on hardwood

Cleaning Performance

This is a GREAT vacuum, but I can’t recommend it...

‘Filter cone’. This is a coarse pre-filter which, if it clogs, will definitely cut down the suction power of the vac. Accessing it requires removing the main dust receptacle, then pulling a handle which releases the filter cone, which lives in the dustbin. After vacuuming my house one time (one medium-sized dog on premises), this ‘filter cone’ was wrapped with dog hair and definitely needed cleaning

The C1s are excellent, but I do not necessarily recommend them for somebody who has mostly carpet. To get anything that would be excellent on carpet from Miele, you would need to pay more than your maximum price. I typically recommend the C1 Turbo for somebody who has mostly hard floors and a few rugs or carpeted spaces.

Has a serious design flaw (bought 9/15/18) ***UPDATED 1/31/19***

So I took the wiring harness apart, cut the ribbon, notched it and abraded the end to expose the metal connections. I reinserted it into the clip and secured it with copious amounts of tape, enough to fortify the inevitable bend that occurs. Put it back together and what do I get? VOILA! A vacuum again! Should this have happened? No. In the amount of time I have owned this unit, they should have at least tested a unit twice as long (I do for my products) but here’s a TIP to prevent this problem for anybody considering this unit

Power

Not sure it is worth the money

I was used to the power button on my Kenmore which was on the handle. Super convenient for turning on and off during jobs. Not this one. It’s on the canister

Great suction, but.....

The swivel-head, though, does not allow me any control: specifically, I used to be able to lift the old head off the floor if I needed to suck up a small stone; or I could go from vacuuming the concrete floors, to the top of my dog beds, to my sofa without changing heads. The swivel head is NOT good on the dog beds, the sofa, or for picking up little things other than dust and hair. It takes me SO LONG to vacuum the house now. Additionally, it takes some concerted effort to switch to the electric carpet attachment

Ease Of Use

Perfection! My review will compare this to Miele Triflex and Miele C1 Canister

Thankfully, Amazon agreed to give me a full refund, and in its place I bought this CX1. Unlike the Triflex, there was no learning curve..

Like a Fat Cat on a Leash

If you have no problem dragging a fat cat on a leash all over your house, then this is the vacuum for you. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

Design

The best Vacuum I have ever owned, also the most expensive I have ever purchased

It is quiet, it moves effortlessly, it is very light for a corded machine. The design is very artistic making it lovely to look at when stored somewhere. It is bagless. This has to be the greatest consumer vacuum on the market

Disappointing Vacuum

I have some floor attachments, brushes, and long-reach wands that fit other vacuums, but they won't work with this Kenmore because of it's design. I was able to fashion an adapter that gets around this problem, but there's some risk the adapter may damage the hose. Kenmore should make their vacuums to use standard attachments, so customers don't lose their investment in specialized attachments. Third, the only attachment with a brush for effectively vacuuming bare floors is only 9 inches wide instead of the standard 14 inch width of most floor attachments

Filtration

If you have allergies, buy this vacuum.

No dust comes out of the Miele's exhaust. The canister opens more than 90 degrees, and the opening is large, so emptying is not a mess. The extra dust filter makes a huge difference. if you didn't know, it has a fine dust filter that contains the smaller dust particles and can be emptied wet so it doesn't become airborne

Good suction, but too many design flaws. Spend your $$$ elsewhere!

It does a good job picking up dust and dirt from both. But Cons: - The air filter cover pops off. There's a single sliding latch that is supposed to keep the cover on, but it pops off frequently when the vacuum is stood on end. The design would have been better off if Kenmore had put on two opposing latches to release the cover
