  Most of my writing is pretty temporary; to-do lists, phone numbers, or scribbling nonsense just testing a new pen or ink.  The Mnemosyne line has been much more practical for me; I love that I can have high quality paper that's easy to rip out without destroying the notebook lol.

Current state of the Mnemosyne collection. I don't have a problem, I can quit whenever I want...

  If you are using this book with Sharpie Markers or anything like that, I wouldn't suggest it but for an average user, I'd say it would be a good start before shelling out twice as much for a bigger brand name.

Great value for money, fantastic paper, more feedback than rhodia, Clairefontaine, tomoe River or apica (all of those are pretty smooth). So if those papers are too "slippery" for you, midori MD is the paper to go for. Also, they lay open flat, you have good shading, zero feathering or bleedthrough.

I'm a big fan of these notebooks, I just wish it was a bit stiffer for writing with the notebook in your hand or on your lap. The rules could also be a little darker or a different color, they can be a bit difficult to see in a dimmed room. But the paper is great, smooth and crisp white and just the right weight; the date box and heavier lines denoting sections are convenient. Great quality at a great price. Note: to my fingers the pages seem a little slippery. That's the only thing I can find wrong. I have a tremor in my writing hand and have found that I need the "bite" of a slightly rougher page
