At Last!

I like this great pot for my green tea, but I cannot use the pot lid due to the lid knob coming off after 4 weeks. I tried glueing it back but to no avail. Please company, help me obtain a workable lid! Please advise.

 Most glass teapots have a tubular spout that is hard to clean, meaning that the eventual inevitable tea patina will be annoying to remove. The thoughtfulness of this design inspires me to be a better person in all things.  The spout also pours the tea precisely and perfectly with no dribbling whatsoever, and doesn't put a "spin" on the stream of tea as many other teapots tend to do. The tea pours very softly, reminding us that a meaningful impact is oftentimes made in complete silence

 I won't recommend using it for boiling water. For one thing the stainless steel lid of Vivreal gets really hot so much so that I replaced it with a silicone mug topper. Hario teapot has a glass lid that fits with or without the infuser basket. (Besides, I already have the Secura electric kettle that boils water in 5 minutes

  Material: Both are made of heat resistant glass. I can leave either on the Darice candle warmer indefinitely without any problems. Hario is made in Japan, while Vivreal is made of German borosilicate glass in China. On a few occasions I put Vivreal in the microwave and have seen photos by satisfied customers of Vivreal boiling water on gas stove tops, while a Hario customer complained about boiling water shooting out of its spout

  Design: The Hario looks like a traditional teapot. It looks delicate with its curves, especially on the neck, handles, and spout. I won't be surprised if those are the vulnerable and problem spots. The simple streamline design of the Vivreal is better and easier to clean, but this is subjective and a matter of personal preference

My Favorite Teapot for Daily Use

I just ordered my third Hario teapot. Not because I need one in every room, but because I broke the last two -- one lasted two years and then I shattered the lid; one lasted two weeks before I broke its spout. But, I re-ordered. So what does that tell us?  1) Elegant - looks and feels great to use

 Glass is more delicate than stoneware and much more delicate than cast iron tea-pot. It also has less heat retention than either because it has less thermal mass; you cannot pre-heat this vessel significantly, either.  This means that I would not recommend dishwasher treatment (spout and handle can be delicate) for the glass. This is much thinner glass than say, a Pyrex bowl -- good for tea, but bad for resiliency

 But, I re-ordered. So what does that tell us?  1) Elegant - looks and feels great to use. Excellent balance, yet light and delicate. Enhances my tea experience

Great teapot, if you are careful with glass

 No doubt it is fragile. I bought it to replace a glass teapot that broke because it was put in a too-crowded kitchen cabinet, and I've broken at least one other over the years. I've decided to keep this one in its box on an out-of-the-way shelf. Alas, I can't recommend it for office use

 And the strainer looks well made. No issues with it whatsoever. The glass container is made in Japan. It looks and feels fragile and thin, and I am careful with it, but paradoxically, it also feels strong and not like it will break very easily

I bought this tea pot to replace an adagio ingenuitea as a personal, daily use brewer, and I haven't looked back once!  It's an excellent size to brew for one person, accomodating up to two 8-oz cups with a low volume tea (black tea, for example) and somewhat less—perhaps 1 2/3-1 3/4 cups—for larger volume greens. (A standard US mug will run to 1 1/4 cup in size.) If I could ask for an adjustment, it would only be for the tea basket to extend all the way to the bottom of the pot; a tablespoon of green tea will expand to fill up to the water line for a single cup, and a little more room would be reassuring, though probably not necessary.  The glass is disconcertingly light for someone more used to the weight of a pyrex, but it's proven to be sufficiently sturdy for the everyday knocks, including hand washing

 The size and shape make it easy to wash; there's no trying to fit your fingers into a space too small for your hand or using a special brush for the spout.  The basket is made of finer mesh, and is broader as well as deeper than the ones I've used previously. The size means that there are fewer and smaller folds where the mesh meets the rim, so I haven't had any problems with leaves lodging in them. For a casual cleaning, it's been enough to knock out the majority of the leaves and rinse the remainder out under the tap

It's an excellent size to brew for one person

 It can hold 16 ounces if you are careful not to spill. At 16 ounces the water level will be about 1/4" from the top of the infuser. The size and concept of the infuser (made in China of stainless steel) is good but the folds in the mesh would allow leaves to get stuck, and because of the folds the infuser rim is not tight against the mesh, which would also allow leaves to get stuck under the rim. Have not had a use for it

 Very happy with the teapot. I would give the teapot and lid 5 stars and the infuser 2 stars.

The pot (made in Japan) and lid are lovely, easy to use and clean. After breaking my Hario 700 ml pot in this design, which I liked, I purchased this 450 ml size and like it even more. I brew about 8 - 10 ounces of sencha green tea without an infuser and just strain the leaves from getting in my cup with an English cup strainer and then put them back in for reinfusing. Most of the leaves remain in the pot when pouring

Nice size for up to 14 ounces of tea.
