Matein Travel Laptop Backpack vs Tom Bihn Synik 30

It holds a LOT! It was comfortable on my back; the straps are well padded. I liked that I could also carry it on my carry on suitcase using the strap (on the backpack) that fit over the handle of the carry on suitcase; it was a bit snug getting it to fit over the handle, but it securely held the backpack on top of my Travel Pro carry on suitcase. It seems sturdy and held up well for what I need it for.

enough said...the only REAL thing that i would complain about is the skimpiness of the shoulder straps

So an excellent bargain bag, and I love that it has that dock on it, but I think it's faster not to use it, at least when topping off my laptop; for mobile devices, it's perfect between classes. I put it on the table in front of me or the chair next to me, and I don't get to take out the pack to charge my phone, for instance. But yet again, if you want to drop kick or throw your excellent expensive tablet or laptop, get a damn shock-resistant setup, not this thing.

I purchased this when my company started sending me to job sites that I had to fly to, to replace the small breifcase style one they gave me so I could fit more of what I needed in it. You can easily fit a laptop, tablet, storage clip-board, and two days worth of clothes and it will still fit under the seat for flights. Even in the little planes that only seat like 20 people.

I actually just downgraded from a Tom Bihn Synik 30 to a Jansport Superbreak Pro (26L). I’ve had a TB Synapse 19 for daily use for 7 years and loved it. Got the Synik for a month-long trip this spring (cut short by 2 weeks because COVID lockdowns hit). Recently I’ve been thinking about what I would have changed as far as gear for that trip and decided I don’t need all those pockets and the Synik is too large and heavy

The compartments are perfect for storing and organizing SO MUCH STUFF! I also prefer using a backpack rather than pulling a small piece of luggage with wheels. This is especially true when I have the larger luggage to be checked, but still in the coming and going one is stuck with the nuisance of rolling both small and large pieces of luggage and it can be problematic. However, using a backpack avoids that problem and it is comfortable to wear because the weight inside is distributed in the all the different compartments. In addition, the backpack material is strong and looks good, and even matches the color of my hard-side luggage
