 I wouldn't be surprised if the opposite happened, which the brightness dropping to prevent overheating after a while, but this makes no sense. It happens even if I am not touching it, so it's not a switch or contact issue (the switch feels good and I never have weird behavior when intentionally switching modes). I had it sitting on the edge of the table in a low mode to illuminate something I was working on, and then BOOM it goes up. It's really bad when I am trying to use it at low power for looking at stuff up close and it flashes my eyeballs

 First of all, Manker has quickly become one of my favorite flashlight makers, I own more Manker than I do Nitecore, Lumintop, Olight, etc and their build quality, features, and value are among the best out there. In the neutral warm tint, its got really nice color reproduction, but its not too amber or yellowish like some Neutral whites can be. If you are comparing this to other 2 AA lights like the Nitecore MT2A basically it boils down to this. The Manker is technically brighter, but the Nitecore has a further throw (about 50% more)

A great pocket light that compares with my equivalent KLARUS but cheaper. Getting back to the blue light and battery drain, if you're concerned about long term storage battery drain, I'd recommend you leave a spare battery or two with the light, which you should be doing anyways. For the flashlights in my cars, I always keep a few extra batteries with the flashlight, simple solution. For a long term option (up to 10 years), you can get 1.5V Lithium AA (non-rechargeable)

The beam pattern is perfectly adequate for a tiny light. It has what I would consider a medium hotspot, then a slightly "colored" ring (a warm-ish ring on the "cool" LED) and then the dropoff with all transitions being mild. At about a foot away, the hotspot is roughly 5" in diameter. Perfectly acceptable beam performance for this type of light and better than nearly all "cheapie" flashlights I've seen which usually have a hard hotspot and not much else

0 popped up on a lightning deal, I purchased.  If the ad was upfront that flat tops were no longer supported, a buyer would be making an informed decision then and there. I was expecting I could use the ones I already have, not having to spend more to make it work. I use Li-ion for the superior output, the reason for buying this light

 But having the battery constantly draining was a deal breaker for me. In an emergency, one or two weeks on, if I reach for the flashlight, I need for it to work. Other than that it is a great product. Lumintop even has one without the "back light" as they call it
