Mac Knife Professional Paring Knife, 3-1/4-Inch vs Wüsthof Pro Paring Knife

Now, of course, I may be wrong, but I returned it and ordered a knife costing $10 more which I hope will be worth the price. I'm sure you can buy knives costing less than half the price which are probably 60 to 70 % as good, but if you desire perfection, which I imagine is the motivation for someone buying a knife costing as much as you'll pay for this one, you won't get it buying this knife.

Wanted an inexpensive knife for kitchen use that I could run through the dishwasher if I used it on meat without feeling guilty about the chance of damaging an expensive knife. Very sharp, works better than expected. Would definitely buy again.

. just like my cast iron cookware, I don't foresee these going away any time soon. Anxious to add to my collection

I'm not an avid cooker, nor do I know much about knives. But I just bought the Wusthof pro pairing knife and have really enjoyed it. I also have the victoinox fibrin handle pairing knife (although it is very old and hasn't been sharpened in awhile). I have included a picture of the two for anyone trying to choose between them

I am most unhappy with this knife. First off the thing rusts very easily. Do not leave it in water for any length of time. My particular knife has either impurities or poor bonding between the blade and the tang

After using it for a month now, the knife has held its edge and looks as great as the day I bought it. The grip is especially nice as it offers a nonslip handle, a feature that is definitely appreciated versus other knives I own. Great looking knife, would buy again.

Steel quality not as advertised. Knife shows rust spots, which is absolutely an indication that the promised steel quality is not present. No way this has the consistency promised and charged for. Knife is well designed but not wearing well at all

Just keep in mind that this steel is stamped not forged, thus softer, so you definitely want a 20 degree angle instead of the typical 15 with forged wusthofs.

This knife is not as pretty as the Shun it replaced, but it's much better quality! (I say this because it didn't immediately start to rust after the first use like the Shun did) I've been using it for a few months now with no signs of wear. This knife has a very subtle design that doesn't jump out as much as the Shun did immediately, but it's grown on me since owning the knife. I get bummed out when I'm working on something in the kitchen that requires a different knife! This will definitely not be the last Mac knife I purchase; I can't recommend it enough.

I like what Wusthof did with the grip here, a little more purchase but not completely out of the box like with their chef's knife. I would say this is my top budget paring knife over the Victorinox. Just a bit more comfy. Will get pretty dang sharp if you use the right tools and hold an edge for a long time (it is a paring knife after all, not a workhorse)
