So yeah, if you recently bought a new pair of planars or other hard to drive headphones, be extra sure you're driving them properly

 Definitely punches above its weight class in this regard. The overall design is to be praised too; it is intelligent, compact and simple to use and understand. " As an amplifier, it is excellent. It is surprisingly very neutral with just the right amount of "tubey-ness" in the low and high end, although it is difficult to notice this with some songs

 Not to mention the fact that it is balanced.  The only real downside is that the RCA input is quite poor in comparison to the balanced XLR inputs. When switching between the two whether I used the balanced out or 1/4" output I noticed a genuine increase in overall quality using the XLRs. I assume that this is because it is a $100 balanced tube amp which is genuinely amazing in its own regard, so clearly the R&D went into that aspect of things

As everyone else has said, the P20's build quality is something else at this price. It is made of aluminum and feels sturdy. Definitely punches above its weight class in this regard. The overall design is to be praised too; it is intelligent, compact and simple to use and understand

A well built, surprisingly neutral amplifier.

 Try using a well made 3 amp power supply if you can find one. Next, hooking it directly to the headphone output of my iPad Mini 4 resulted in loud, random crackling sounds. WTF? OK, so I moved to using it with my JDS Labs ODAC DAC hooked to my Apple PowerMac desktop and the loud crackling stopped. But, wait, what is going on with the highs? They sounded strident and distorted and not in a good tube way

 Oh, and Loxjie absolutely needs to put an Off/On switch on this thing. That's right, there is none. It turns on as soon as the power plug is inserted. You can push in the wiggly front knob to turn in on/off but I would much prefer to see a rocker switch on the back for power

 Given the flakey, under amp'ed switching power supply they include, I would NOT want to leave this thing running 24x7 due to heat and fire concerns with this cheap power supply.  Finally, don't expect this unit to produce full blown "tooobe sound". I have an inexpensive Chinese Qinpu Q-2 from several years back that I bought for the same price that does much better in this regard. This is not the headphone amp you want for creating lucious tube sound

 Ah, much better. More defined bass and the strident, distorted highs went away.  I did all the initial testing with the unbalanced audio-in and the unbalanced audio-out jacks. Yeah, this headphone amp is suppose to be audio nirvana using the XLR balanced jacks but it should also perform at least with decent sound on the far more common unbalanced jacks

First Impressions are OK, Requires Mods

  Power: 5/10: now this is where this amp truly finds its downside and such becomes its true demise. I find that almost all of my headphones struggle to reach an enjoyable volume. Fostex t50rp modhouse argon, t50rp zmf classic, t50rp Mayflower electronics version vi, hifiman he400i, he4xx, he560 v2, he500, he1000, hifiman editionX v2, hifiman susvara, hifiman ananda, hifiman sundara, advanced alphas, mrspeakers aeon, mrspeakers ether c flow, audeze lcd2's, audeze lcdx, monolith m1060, monolith m1060c, Sennheiser hd660s, hd650, hd600, akg k712, audioquest nighthawk, beyerdynamic dt880 premium (600ohm), beyerdynamic dt1990, grado ps2000e, AudioTechnica ATH-A2000z and several others all struggle desperately to reach reasonable volumes. Some of those I listed can be enjoy with this amp but it comes at the cost of having the loxjie p20 completely maxed out and turned all the way up

 With that said though if you have moderately efficient to very efficient headphones (especially if you have balanced efficient headphones)b then this amp is a total and complete win. It looks nice, it's built nice and has one of the cleanest sounds I've heard for under $150 and I've heard very very very many. Despite not having a true tube sound it's still very warm and pleasant. It's s nice relaxed sound for easy listening

 If any at all. Despite being a "tube" amplifier this actually sounds very much like a solid state amp with exceptionally clean sound. Now this could just be that the stock tubes are crap and I've ordered several sets of much better and higher quality pairs to test this. Will update later on to announce my findings

 Honestly can't get any better for this price.  Sound: 7/10: this is where it gets tricky..

 At the time of this review, its only in its 1st hour of play time. This being my first tube, the sound is surely not neutral. But it adds flavors towards my preference greatly. Compairing this to the default amp from iFi zen dac v2 or my JDS Labs Element 2, p20 ramps up more on sound stage and deep bass

Tube amp under $100, i have nothing to complain about. Right out of the box it sounded great. At the time of this review, its only in its 1st hour of play time. This being my first tube, the sound is surely not neutral

 Now, if we look at the back of the app, this is where all your connections are. So you've got your mains power. You'Ve got your join button for connecting to wi-fi wirelessly you've got your speaker, terminals um, and that's where the speaker cable will run from and then into each of the speaker terminals on the other speakers now sonos actually supply banana plugs in the box, and these ensure A really simple and neat connection from the speaker, cable to the binding posts on the sonos amp you'll notice that there is a left and a right terminal. So you would wire your left speaker to the left channel and your right speaker to the right to make a left and a right

 So there's no further buttons to press another great feature of the sonos amp worth mentioning is dual mono mode, and traditionally the sonos amp is supposed to be used to power, a left and a right speaker, so they become a true stereo pair. However, there are times where you may not necessarily want your speakers to be either a left or a right, and you may want them to just play both of the channels through each speaker. The times that this will be useful is perhaps, if you're using ceiling.  Otherwise, if you set it up that way, you're not going to have a lot of the features that this has to offer so make sure you are using the newer gold sonos app if you've never created a sonos account before you will have to go and create An account when you're setting up the system, but essentially what you do in here is down in the bottom right. You click the little gear icon, you click select your product and it will begin searching for nearby products in your network. It should automatically discover it which it did in this case and then you just click add, but if it didn't, for whatever reason all you have to do is unplug your power, cable press and hold that sync button here on the back and hold it. While you go and plug in the power keep holding it until this front light turns orange, then you can let go of the button and it will go and basically factory reset the amplifier and it should go and show up in your app

 So if you can happen to go out and pick them up on the used market, then i actually do think that these are a fully functioning, perfect solution for pretty much any scenario. You'Ve got if you've got multiple rooms and different zones in your house or business. This is the way to go, or even, if you want to have some standalone speakers powered that's where i don't really think it's especially not worth it. You can get much cheaper amps that are able to power the speakers, although they may not be this level of high five

 and most of the videos on youtube are coming from dealers who are looking to make a sale from you who want you to buy this and a lot of the times. They don't want to talk about the downsides of a system like this, but in this scenario i am the purchaser i'm the customer same as you you're looking to see if this is an actual worthwhile product to pick up or if you should go with another solution And in this video, my goal is to answer that in an unbiased fashion. I will be talking about the downsides, as well as the features i'll be going through an unboxing of the amp i'll, be giving you a real world test to show you how this actually performs in the real world, and also i'll, be ending it off with answering The question of whether or not it is a worthwhile amplifier to pick up so with that said, let's get right into an unboxing all right. So as far as the outside of the box goes, it is pretty minimalistic

 Um the amp over here is definitely the winner. I mean it makes sense. It has 125 watt output to each channel, but now that you've heard the difference between the connect, amp and the amp, let's go and show you the other real world scenario where this is actually installed in a building both in a gym and in some in-ceiling speakers. So, let's go so you can get a real experience there right - and here we are

 It isn't quite as taut or as textured either. But up top in the uppermost frequencies, so the treble basically, we noticed that the Sonos Amp isn't the most refined listen when sat next to or heard soon after the BlueSound PowerNode. But in isolation, you probably wouldn't notice it. But in this side by side comparison situation, we do notice that the Sonos Amp lacks the refinement that the PowerNode gives us

 But I think many listeners nowadays will either be using a native streaming service app with AirPlay or they're using Spotify Connect. I think the days of Sonos users making full use of the app and the integrations, using the S2 app's menu system to access music are possibly on the way out. Of course, one of this Amp's major draw cards is its HDMI ARC input, which you don't find on the Sonos 5 or the Sonos 1. You do get it on the soundbars that Sonos make

 On loudspeaker output power from the Sonos Amp, we get 125 watts per channel. Now, as many of you probably already know, the Sonos App integrates like a bajillion streaming services. But I think many listeners nowadays will either be using a native streaming service app with AirPlay or they're using Spotify Connect. I think the days of Sonos users making full use of the app and the integrations, using the S2 app's menu system to access music are possibly on the way out

 Because as many of us know, who have heard many soundbars, the stereo width you get from a Sonos Amp with a pair of passive loudspeakers is far wider and gives you a more enveloping sound than the Sonos Arc soundbar can ever dream of. Yes, it might go lower in the bass. Yes, it does Dolby Atmos, but not very well. See my video for that, for how it kind of truncates the start of a Dolby Atmos stream
