Rules

Simple Concept with Interesting Strategic Possibilities
The instructions are printed on nice glossy color letter-sized paper and are 8 pages long. I had played with friends online before so I knew the rules to begin with but I think for new players it would definitely be helpful to read through the rules. I've looked at them briefly and it seems to do a good job of explaining it, but I'll mention some of the points I found most critical to understanding the basic game mechanics: - everything is cards (treasure cards, action cards, and victory cards) - the ultimate goal is to have the most victory points by getting victory cards - each player has a deck of cards (you start with 7 treasure cards and 3 victory cards) - in a given turn each player starts with 5 random cards from their deck - in a given turn a player can buy more cards if that player has treasure cards in hand - in a given turn certain actions can increase or decrease the number of cards in players' hands - any cards you use, stay in your hand (with a few exceptions) - the composition of your deck is important because it determines the probability of getting certain hands - action cards can be chained which can help improve your hand for that turn - the game ends when 3 piles of cards have been exhausted (or if the Province victory card supply has been exhausted) - in the case of a possible tie, the player with the fewest number of turns wins; if that doesn't decide it, then it is a true tie I learned this game from the online version on BSW and I found it similar to but more accessible than other games where cards can double as money that you use to buy more cards. There is no "choice of roles" feature, just straight up playing cards
