Longines Legend Diver vs Seiko 5 Sports SRPD

Another day at the (home) office, another day desk diving in my favorite tool for the job, the Longines Legend Diver. I love the sleek supercompressor case with inner rotating bezel, the retro looks and Milanese mesh bracelet, the simple, classic shape and style, everything. Dresses up better than just about any diver I know of, but is still recognizably a tool watch and wears well casually, in the same way a well-finished field watch does.

. Initial impressions: The 5KX doesn't disappoint! The rich blue sunburst dial on the SRPD51 and applied indices are much more attractive than the original SKX's matte/printed dial, and while the bracelet and endlinks might be folded and hollow, the way it articulates is super comfortable, plus the smooth clasp functions very well. I'd even say that with the flat display caseback instead of the famous raised wave logo of the SKX, the 5KX sits nicer and more planted on the wrist

This luminous line appears as an underline beneath the numeral at 12 O'clock above the numeral at Six O'clock and to the right of the numeral at Nine ...

I sized it and it has perfectly balanced weight in conjunction with the watch, it feels solid though not entirely (who cares), and the clasp closes with an excellent click with nothing appearing loose nor giving the impression that it will snag onto anything or slowly open. The lume, as expected, is beautiful and is even in brightness all around the face. On the wrist the watch, again, has wonderful balance around the whole circumference of the wrist. The weight of the watch does not feel as if to swing in favor of any side of the wrist

I purchased this with the idea of making it look like my dream watch. A grand seiko spring drive watch. And I've succeeded. This came originally with a blue diver bezel but removed for a lucius Atelier polished pilot bezel
