Longines Legend Diver vs Rolex Explorer II

Another day at the (home) office, another day desk diving in my favorite tool for the job, the Longines Legend Diver. I love the sleek supercompressor case with inner rotating bezel, the retro looks and Milanese mesh bracelet, the simple, classic shape and style, everything. Dresses up better than just about any diver I know of, but is still recognizably a tool watch and wears well casually, in the same way a well-finished field watch does.

Lastly, the aesthetics of the black numbers around the bezel complimenting the gloss black dial is extremely satisfying. To summarize, and I think Ferris Bueller said it best, “If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.”.

Side by side, the Explorer II’s orange Freccione makes reading the GMT hour easier for me, and I love how the thick black based Mercedes hands seem to float over the black dial. I know a lot of people here prefer the 40mm Explorer II with the red GMT hand, but I have to say I prefer how the 42m case sits on my wrist. The sloped brushed stainless steel bezel also tones down the size compared to the BLRO’s thicker ceramic bezel.

Finally got a new strap for my Longines Legend Diver Heritage L37744506. I felt an NDC would be a pretty fitting compliment to a French Marine Dive watch being a strap made of French Marine Paracord.

I put an orange fanta leather DELUG strap on it, and I think it looks pretty good. Shout-out to Delug - they have a lot of incredible straps at a reasonable price point.
