 The Apple is just a little bit bette, just a little bit easier to type on. There is a little more resistance with the Logitech. My fingers glide across the keys of the Apple keyboard as I type. I appreciate Its backlighting, a feature that is not available on the Apple keyboard. I also like the fact that the MX Master keyboard can be used with a Mac and with Windows, and has modifier keys labeled for both

Impressive but I narrowly prefer Apple's own keyboard for use with my MacBook Pro

"  I had already repaired the original keyboard, but the Manager followed up again:  "I am still happy to send you a replacement keyboard that you can either keep as a backup or deploy somewhere else you may have a need for it. Just let me know if you would like that and I'll be happy to take care of it for you."  This is very impressive - I can't remember when I've received a similar offer. I changed the number of stars for the review because of the Manager's follow-up and sincere attempt to make things right

Logitech Stood Behind The Product!

 Why else do they change things that don’t need to be changed? Yes I know that the basic computer keyboard hasn’t changed much since IBM and Apple first offered them sometime back in the last century and what else would explain some of the obscure keys that never get touched? But to change the names of things that everyone is used to, why is that necessary except change for the sake of change. I envision the people who design these things as not being people who have used a keyboard every day since they were knee high to a grasshopper. Whether you are a hunt and peck; or a lightning fast typist who never looks at the keys or somewhere in-between like me who can type by feel but glances at some keys for reassurance the paramount goal of a keyboard designer should be to keep not only the look but the feel of their product familiar. Somewhere in the past few years the last part of that goal has completely disappeared with the shape, height, color, lettering location and almost everything else being changed by every manufacturer just for the sake of style

The very first impression is positive, it has a good overall feel to it. l it looks good (important to me in my home studio where the look is a big thing). It feels solid, no plasticky and the keys seem to be well positioned and ergonomic.

What I’m going to try to do is compare this to the obvious predecessor, the K740 which I will refer to as the original or the classic. That was the keyboard the world said was the best ever and after a long absence it is kinda back, in some form or another.

 So resign yourself to having to recharge it about once a week. If you go battery only it will activate the smart lighting that only goes on when its dark and/or when it senses your hand near it. You can choose to leave it plugged in to the charger, which will keep the light on much longer, but it will also keep a very bright charging light glaring in your eyes and most experts agree that leaving something plugged in after it’s charged will shorten the battery lifespan. On a related subject, another odd design quirk is they waste three large keyboard positions that could have been useful to dedicated buttons to sync it to three devices, which not everyone will do, yet they bury the power switch in an inconvenient location on the back and on top of that it’s a slide switch that requires using one hand to hold the keyboard from sliding around while turning it on and off

Not so worthy successor

 - Has a hefty, solid feeling when you pick it up. - Backlighting is useful and still relatively unique in the wireless world. - Rechargeable via USB-C, no disposable batteries - Media keys useful and you can toggle that row between FN and Media functionality indefinitely rather than try to hit 3-key combos every time. - Software allows for some customization of keys

 It's basically free. - Packaging minimal yet very classy, well done. - Board looks and feels great, has a sort of subdued yet elite appearance, looks great in office or home setting. If you aren't one of those RGB nerds you will love it

 Also I have a detailed pros/cons breakdown at the bottom.  So lets start. Logitech has been marketing the MX Keys to a couple specific audiences, one of the primary ones being software engineers.

 - It is hefty and solid and full size so this is not good as a portable keyboard. I do NOT consider this a con, but if you think you're just going to throw this in your backpack and haul this daily to your hot-desking, open-office, Facebook HQ developer sweatshop, I am here to crush your dreams.  CONCLUSION: This is basically Logitech's take on Apple's Magic Keyboard. You get a lot more features and functionality and a backlight, for $50 less

WARNING for Mechanical keyboard users: MX Keys is annoyingly LOW, otherwise a great keyboard.

 So gamers, if you're looking for function, speed and sturdiness, rather than bling, this keyboard is the bomb.

 I gave the MX Keys 5 stars for gaming, even though I'm not a gamer, I didn't want to drag down the overall rating for a feature that I don't use. It's my understanding that it's all about speed, so this should be a great gaming keyboard, even though it doesn't have all the flashing multi-colored lights so common to the gamer's keyboards I see today. So gamers, if you're looking for function, speed and sturdiness, rather than bling, this keyboard is the bomb.

This keyboard is obviously the result of Logitech's many many years of building great keyboards for every need. The Perfect Touch keys take a little getting used to, but after you've adapted to it, you won't ever want to go back to anything else. IMHO, this is the finest keyboard ever made. It has a solid aluminum body which feels very sturdy and rugged
