I'm 6'4" and deep in dad bod territory. Most backpacks are not proportional to my torso. I've used a messenger bag for work for some time, but am returning to school this fall and would prefer to go back to backpacking around campus.

Some of the designs from Topo Designs have caught my eye, even if they are marketed as travel bags rather than for daily use (such as [this](https://topodesigns.com/products/convertible-travel-bag-laptop-backpack-30l?variant=40136110899253)). I also need something that can hold a 15 inch laptop.

Suggestions for other brands or models that suit us bigger-bodied folk are appreciated. Or if you have experience with one of these travel bags from Topo. Thanks!

We'Ve looked at a ton of them on the channel in the past. I just really like the quality and the variety of styles that they have and i never had a chance to test out the original spire backpack, but it looked like a really solid bag

 But I do have this dinosaur computer that I decided I would throw in here so that you can see it. It's a 17 inch computer easily easily fits within the space. So uh, that is the Timbuk2 Authority Laptop deluxe backpack. Um, I would encourage you to give it a try if you need kind of an urban commuter tech organizer bag

 A lot of the zippers are either straight or only have a 90 degree curve in them and so I really think that they're extremely usable a lot of times with just one hand, which is nice. The one place where they do not have a zipper pull is this tiny pocket on the top and I feel like it needs a zipper pull perhaps more than any of the others because you have to sometimes dig around up in under this flap to find the zipper. So this is kind of where I sometimes keep my phone. A lot of times I'll keep my phone on my pocket

 This one here is also a place where I would keep things that I need to grab on the go. So for instance, a mask and if you get bored in the airport frisbee right, there's also a key leash in there to keep your key safe while you're traveling. On the bottom, it's a little more durable material. It does have some reflective tape under these compression straps and I like these straps

 Don't worry about the screen that's cracked. the uh, you kind of got to force the pins in here. I don't really care about that though. They go and they work, so that's fine

Review: TIMBUK2 Authority Laptop Backpack DLX

 Sadly, I bought a timbuk2 authority pack and to say the least, it is not 28 L in any way :(. &#x200B;.

 The cinch straps on the bottom of the Authority are impractical for extra carrying capacity. The straps are on the bottom so anything you put there (like a rolled-up coat, which won't fit in the thin pockets) gets dirty as soon as you set the bag down. If Timbuktu had a satisfaction guarantee; I'd be walking this back up to their store a block away. Since not, I still grab my old bag when I really need function and versatility

 The style is okay, but the pockets are thin and narrow, and really geared towards laptops and papers, not bulkier objects like snacks or gym clothes. It appears that someone decided the bag would look like a clean rectangle shape, and then compromised all the features to retain that aesthetic. While this bag is the same volume as my last backpack, the pocket shape limits is value for everyday use and as a travel carry-on. I really miss some features of my old bag, like a second exterior bottle holder (I used one for water, the other for a coffee thermos), and the convenient mesh pouch on the front for fragile items like a banana or a bag of chips

Looks okay, I wish it was more functional for work/travel

 I have a bad back and prefer backpacks to other options like messenger bags. What I like: the bag is incredibly slim which is great for a crowded train. On the other hand, the bag also expands so it can fit a pair of shoes and gym clothes. The organizer compartment has lots of pockets

 The clasps on the bottom of the bag that control expandibility are metal (unlike the other claps) and can jangle as you walk. The back contor is very straight, which is fine, but I would have preferred something more form fitting. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I'm a daily commuter in Chicago to work via train. I've been using this bag with this purpose I. Mind. I typically am carrying a laptop and accessories - chargers, umbrella, pens, notebook, and sunglasses

 If you want to carry any documents or another laptop, you could put your laptop in here too, and i do like that this sleeve is a little bit more protected. Just checking real quick, it's very tight with another laptop in there in the back, but yeah pretty much just a big main compartment there, and then this back part is great because it holds up to a 17-inch laptop. So those durable ykk zippers opens up like horseshoe. So about halfway down the bag, what i have inside of here is i've, got just my laptop a little keyboard and roost stand, so i'm able to fit all those uh kind of electronics

 Now this pocket is very padded, as you can see, it's kind of got the stitched reinforcement - and this is you know - pretty dense foam like it's very thick thick from here to here. So there's a lot of padding, but one thing this laptop compartment, um isn't doing. The best on is a false bottom, there's a little bit of suspension here at the bottom, but not a ton. I kind of wish there was a little bit more

 So, if you're going to be riding your bike or something like that at night, it gives you a little bit of extra visibility. I like on this bag. It has more of a professional vibe, and you can see here that we have the compression straps down here at the bottom. So that's going to make the bag smaller, make it a little skinnier and give it a more professional look and i've got it pretty fully packed out just to show you how much we can get inside, but it really helps to thin it down if you'd, like So yeah just compression buckles here, just some duraflex hardware, if you like that uh you have elastic keepers here to manage the straps, which is really important for a bag
